Ryo in KOF '98 with a CRT filter. Scanlines allow for subpixel detail in his belt, making a solid golden vertical line show as 5 dan stripes.

Same Ryo idle sprite but with raw pixels, where you see a solid contiguous vertical line in his belt instead of individual dan stripes.

What are your favorite CRT specific pixel art effects outside of the usual "composite TVs make Sonic waterfalls and SOR 2 light cones look transparent"?

Mine is how SNK used scanlines for subpixel detail with Ryo's belt. Without them you get a solid gold line instead of separate dan stripes.
