Hey @bam-bam.bsky.social , I just came on here for the first time in ages as I’m in Chicago and walked by a massive queue and was like what are they here for? I could see Juno inside posing with guests! Oh, and I miss you!

I have seriously been craving pancakes but my pancake-making kid has been out of town almost every weekend for the past month. You make me realize I might be able to…do it myself??
They screened it at Emory a few weeks ago with a Q&A by a film professor afterwards - perhaps the first one of those I’ve attended where the Qs couldn’t be A’d.
It’s funny, my physical record collection is alphabetized, but on BC (whether phone or laptop) it’s just by most recent which at least keeps it fresh & makes sure I’m being reminded to listen to whatever I’ve just bought. Which for this weekend is a lot!
The Emory Cinematheque is perhaps the best thing about Atlanta that does such an exceptionally poor job of promoting itself. They just screened “Man With A Movie Camera” Wednesday night which I wish I could have known ahead of time - “Holy Motors” by Leos Carax this Wed though, and free.
Thank you! We were just reminiscing - if you are ever in Cincinnati there’s The American Sign Museum which I think you would love, old neon and Burma Shave and stuff like that. Our tour guide asked us all where we were from & then named from memory what our regional “Big Boy” chain was.
I remember after moving you and Belinda into your apartment off of Peachtree that we went out to Shoney’s for these. The only time I ever had one when it wasn’t my birthday.
Sometimes you have to undergo a self-assessment to understand the difference between your ideals and your actions. So it will be for me today, to determine if I have what it takes to see a showing of “The Thing” at 9:30pm tonight without falling asleep at some point.
Just got an email from LinkedIn suggesting I follow Ryan Reynolds, Vivek Ramaswamy, Barack Obama, and/or Tim Tebow (in that order). Almost refreshing to find a social media platform that apparently has no surveillance skills whatsoever.
“[ding] Unplowed road reported ahead” - may that be the first time and last time I ever hear the Google maps lady say that to me. Home in double the regular time but less than an act of “The Brutalist” and you won’t see me on national news at least.
It was not my greatest meditation experience - my daughter soundtracked it with some toenail-clipping in an adjacent room - but I did it for David Lynch…and for myself. 10 minutes went by faster than I thought. We need something positive to remember this day!
I diligently kept pumping air in my tires after running over a nail last night, and got them all replaced this morning because they needed it. I then went to a hardware store to buy a set of precision screwdrivers on my way home. This concludes all of my masculine activities for the year 2025.
My mini-marathon is concluding and I think this is how I am going - infinitesimally small gaps between the top 6!
Blue Velvet
Season 1 (including pilot)
Mulholland Drive
Eraserhead
Season 3
Elephant Man
Lost Highway
Fire Walk With Me
Straight Story
Season 2
Inland Empire
Wild At Heart
Dune
And hi btw! Coincidentally enough I found you after searching “Plaza Theatre” and found you mentioning David Lynch - Lynch is on my personal Rushmore, and perhaps the Plaza is Rushmore itself.
Yes I did - It’s an epic film that looks at itself in the mirror and says “I AM AN EPIC FILM”. As such it maybe stretches a bit beyond its grasp as I saw it but kudos for trying. And hey, if it’s 3.5 hrs & I thought it ended too soon it is obviously doing something right to keep me enthralled.
I had one character left after typing that reply - if I stick with bluesky it’s going to make me have to start editing, god forbid.
Strands is the one I don’t care about losing face over (at least until it develops some way to shame me like how Connections introduced your win % months into its run) so I’ll use hints if I get bored. It didn’t happen today, but still took me way too long to figure out given its theme was obvious.
Just booked a trip to Chicago for the beginning of May in order to see R. Crumb on his book tour - if anyone knows any Sun Ra tourism sites give me a planetary hookup!
About to head out to see “The Brutalist” at the Tara, a decision made solely because I like Brutalism and I saw architecture mentioned in the one line synopsis I chanced upon so it’s at least related somehow - will this be an epic misread of “Naked Lunch” proportions? Check back in 6 hours.
Woke up this morning to see a former coworker had sent me a linked-in request at 2am last night. If you wonder who you should avoid in life, it’s probably people on linked-in at 2am on a Friday night.
Why is David Lynch so mourned? He was a conduit - for a certain strain of people, he was as far out as their tastes would get. For others, he was the passageway into worlds unknown where people’s whole identities could have been formed through his influence. It’s an appropriately panoramic scope.
