Meta has deliberately cut civil rights and civil liberties out of its calculus. As an internal Meta memo reasoned, โMany civil society groups that we would expect to attack us would have their resources focused on other concerns.โ The company presumably sees a business opportunity in the ongoing assault on American democracy. Thatโs where Mark Zuckerberg, Metaโs chief executive, is wrong: We are paying attention, and we understand clearly that this technology is part of that very same assault on our rights. We are always ready to fight, and we will continue to defend everyoneโs rights โ from both the government and Big Tech.
It was recently leaked that Meta plans to quietly roll out smart glasses equipped with facial recognition while civil liberties groups like ours are busy dealing with the Trump administration.
They're wrong. We can walk and demand Meta halt production on these creepy glasses at the same time.

My name is Eireann. I'm a low-income, disabled worker. I depend on SEPTA to get to work, where I care for an elderly person in their home. I also depend on SEPTA to get to my own medical visits, get groceries, run other errands, visit friends, and more.
The majority of my district's residents don't own a car and depend on public transit like I do. Neighbors are saying they are so frustrated that the cost of public transit increased by 21.5% last year, while all aspects of transit service worsened. We pay more to benefit less.
The Zero Fare program, which covers the cost for over 60,000 low-income Philadelphians, makes a huge difference for recipients in my area and all across the city, making it more affordable to live their lives. It is entirely funded from the city budget, not dependent on the state or national budget.
I want this program to just continue as it is, and be able to expand to include all Philly residents. I'm asking for your help to preserve Zero Fare. Please go to the link in my bio to sign the petition to Mayor Parker and City Council. Call Mayor Parker at 215 686 2181 and tell her to keep Zero Fare in the city budget.
#Philly! ๐ Let's keep Zero Fare funded and then expand it! Go to the link in my bio to sign the petition to Mayor Parker and City Council. Call Mayor Parker at 215 686 2181 and tell her to keep Zero Fare in the city budget. ๐

The war on Iran is unfolding alongside a wave of mass layoffs in the US. These are not separate crises. They are two sides of the same offensive by the ruling class against the working class.
Don't threaten me with a good time!

Sticking it to techno-fascists by continuing to exist when they wish I would die soon.
I took the #MyersBriggs again after several years and tested as INFJ. Used to always be ENFJ. I used to be obsessed with MBTI, but now I don't really believe in it. After I learned about neurodivergence I get how it's incomplete and doesn't explain a lot about people.
๐ฆ ๐ชบ One thing that's pretty cool about the #Millennial generation is how we all suddenly became obsessed w birds. Everyone's going birding now. I'm actually going on a bird walk myself as a first date soon. It's kind of funny how we all collectively decided that birds are the thing now.
Why am I the only person that masks anymore? I'm not even 100% at it, but sometimes it feels like most everyone else abandoned the project to stop the spread of #COVID and other viruses. ๐ท โ๏ธ
In the foreground is the shoreline of Lake Ontario. There are silhouettes of small narrow trees growing on the bank which leads down to the beach. On the horizon, the sun is starting to appear, turning the clouds in the sky shades of gold and orange, with patches of pale blue sky showing through. The orange and gold is reflected on the rippling water of the lake, as it slowly laps onto the sand.
The sun finally puts in an appearance. Taken March 2025.

The world could be such a nice place if we allowed it. It's all so goddamn unnecessary. There's no need for any of it. It's so beautiful here. It should be so cool to be alive

valentine's day isn't just for couples, it's also a day to celebrate love. for instance, i would love it if housing prices came down.

Why haven't federal agents begun widespread crackdowns on US citizens?
Simple: they are still busy kidnapping and deporting immigrants.
But as soon as they can, they will use the same infrastructure and tactics against you.
Fighting for immigrants is fighting to protect ourselves and each other.
๐จStatus Coup News just ended their Livestream in Minneapolis. They said that the ICE raids have NOT slowed down at all. They are documenting them daily. We cannot listen to Tom Homan when he feeds us the illusion that they are stepping back at all. We must keep the pressure HIGH on ICE.

๐ชง ๐ฃ I haven't stopped being a climate activist, but I'm focusing on helping a bill pass at the local level to stop sending Philly's trash to be incinerated. That's comparatively a small thing, but air pollution is a problem here, and this campaign is winnable. #StopTrashingOurAir
