As much as I'm a ranger doomer too I actually think the new cards do a lot for Marlynn, might be worth revisiting that one.
The ceiling on the deck is super high, I think the thing that needs to be solved is basically just smoothing you over your more mediocre turns. But the deck blocks ok as well
This is also why I tactically won my Briar mirror round 5 to go 5-0, so that I would then face the only Oldhim in the room that was 8th seed
I got to leave slightly earlier for more pints with my fellow FaBbers, and now I have 2 more PQs next weekend. This was a tactical decision

Qualified for Irish Nats on Kassai yesterday in Sligo, then spent the 2 and 1/2 hr trip back doing L0 & L1 judge exams so I could judge the Dublin RTN today and free up another judge to have a crack at it, and then he qualified today!

Obviously they get prizes, but they also can't play any further events that season, and this may come as a shock to you, but people do actually like being able to play the game. Especially if it's someone that can't do the "see the world" half that comes with winning a PQ.
Currently the only time an invite gets burned is if both finalists at a PQ are already qualified, otherwise the invite just passes down to second place if the winner is already qualified. This is not going to majorly affect the overall number of PT qualified players at all.
I think it's a terrible change everywhere, but it's definitely worse with such a limited number of events.
On one hand they're binning ELO because it disincentivizes good players from playing smaller events, but on the other hand they're limiting good players' ability to play. It's ridiculous.
As someone from a relatively small/growing @fabtcg.com community, this fucking sucks and feels totally tone deaf.
Ireland already only gets a handful of events each year. Punishing someone for winning the 1st PQ of a season by making them play less of the game is a unilaterally awful change.

If they were going to print it regardless I'd agree with this for sure, but I think these gems just shouldn't exist in any remotely playable state. This game already has a ridiculous pricing problem, playable fables just add to it.
This is also what I'd heard but I haven't looked into it much admittedly.
Latest @fabtcg.com price problems. Gems are stupid and generic gems are even stupider. How did we get back to this design mistake? When fables are some unplayable landmark idgaf, but making a playable staple that rare is moronic and preventable, and compounds existing massive price problems. #fabtcg

Took down another RTN undefeated today in Sligo. This was a bit smaller than Gamersworld but it's the store's first RTN & it was draft, so future events should be bigger! Really enjoyed Hunted limited, actually looking forward to trying to get more drafts in before PT London! ⚔️🔥
Aight perhaps my Azalea worries were overblown, but hey who knows maybe all the Legolas impersonators' local RTNs are in the next 2 weeks and she'll still get too close for comfort.
