Today we had the pleasure of hosting SpecialEffect, as they shared their vast experience in making games more accessible for all, as well as letting us get hands on with their tech. It's always great hearing about the incredible work they do, and how we, as game developers, can support this!
For everything from games, apps, to operating systems: If your design needs a bunch of options to make it usable, you've got your priorities backwards. Accessible design and less options is a win-win situation.
It's also a heck of a lot cheaper, in terms of development and user retention.

Every time I write about accessibility, I remember that I can't spell accessibility.
For anyone curious, I found @marathonthegame.bungie.net 's server slam build does not have menu narration and also uses free-cursor menus, thus making it inaccessible to gamers without sight.
Full DPad navigation and menu narration would improve things, as well as help with CVAA compliance. #A11Y

It has been incredibly difficult to find games in Steam Next Fest that have accessibility tags. Devs PLEASE if you have a demo, and you might have some accessibility options, ADD ACCESSIBILITY TAGS!
For now though AbleToPlay has a great curated list below of accessible demos to try.
Replaying the RE2 remake and honestly I just play it with a list of all the safe combinations and stuff open on my computer. When games make note of solutions like that when you find the note in the environment that is peak ADHD accessibility. I don't take notes, if you try to make me I'll cheat.
