Echt een leuke shop!
The studio version is older than the 3rdEyeGirl version. But the 6:43 remix is with the ladies as far as I know.
That was it for this Month. See you again in April. Peace and Rock On!
Personally I prefer the 3rdEyeGirl version, since the guitar makes the song rock harder. Iโm curious what your favourite is, so please share it in the comments.
The good thing about that is that we can simply enjoy the music. Like he sings himself: โAll you got to do is listen to the soundโ.
Lyrically I really canโt find a deeper meaning. Playing around with screwing while avoiding anything explicit is the Prince we know in the 21st century.
Princeโs vocals are raw and heโs really screaming every now and then, but of course the master is never out of tune.
The studio version only has a few tiny solos. One during the bridge and one at the very end where it echoes Letโs Go Crazy form the Purple Rain era.
I think itโs the catchy guitar riff the song is built around that makes this such an appealing song, since musically itโs not that complicated. Straight forward drums and bass. On the studio version the guitar has a serving role while itโs dominant with the ladies.
Letโs dive deeper in the song. Itโs one of Prince characteristic poprock songs, in the spirit of I Like It There, Fury and Guitar. Try to sit still when listening to it. Whether you like the song or not, I bet you canโt resist moving.
As we can see on princevault.com/index.php?ti... the first mention of the song was on Hannahโs facebook hinting it as Donnaโs โauditionโ. Itโs remarkable that the studio version with JB drumming was used, instead of rerecording it with Hannah.
On the studio version JBโs drumming is more dominant than Hannahโs, which might have to do with the fact Prince is the only one playing guitar, which makes the studio version leaner than the 3rdEyeGirl version.
The 3rEyeGirl version is longer than the studio version (5:43 compared to 4:15). This is mainly because it rocks harder with fierce guitar solos from both Donna and Prince.
The studio version was recorded earlier in 2011 with John Blackwell on drums, Ida still on bass and Prince doing the rest. www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDS5...
The song of my choosing is Screwdriver. back in the day I really liked it when it was used as the introduction of 3rdEyeGirl, with Hannah Ford (now Welton) on drums, Ida Nielsen on bass and Donna Grantis on guitar back in 2013. (www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvIR...)
Last month I promised I would pick a track I really like. With the official release of both HitnRun volumes on vinyl, I decided to pick a track from Phase 2, the final album that was released during his lifetime.
7th of the month again, so time for another #PrinceThread. (plaatje Prince)
Logisch dat je zo kijkt als je de hele avond doe muziek moet spelen.

Thus album and artist are the G.O.A.T.
ACM kijkt alleen naar de concurrentiepositie. Die hebben geen mening of het een overname is waar NL burgers blij van worden.
Welkom!
Gefeliciteerd met de gezinsuitbreiding.
Next month I promis to be more enthusiastic again, but I felt obliged to dissect this song this month. For now: Peace and B loved!
Some birdsounds are also to be heard and there is a minimalistic guitar on the background.
And basically thatโs all there is. Itโs slick song, commercial as hell, which became a huge hit and made Warner look like a fool.
Musically itโs easy to describe. Itโs driven by keys, bass and the distinct drumming of Michael B. (hey, I just found another positive note).
He sings it in his falsetto, except for the bridge, and the vocal parts are by far the best part of this song.
Although I must admit is catchy as hell with the basic structure of 2 verses and choruses, bridge, chorus fade out. So I do understand its hit potential and the fun of that lies in the big finger to WB.
Letโs move to the song. The reason I donโt like it, is because of the fact that itโs a slick, typical 90s R&B song, which makes the enamel crack of my teeth
