Honored to be like #420 on this banger
EXCELLENT QUESTION
the answer is currently...
Not really.
Its all exhausting and feels fruitless
I can say i'm completely off twitter now. I won't delete my account, I gotta lurk on the nu nazis, but posting there seems pretty futile. I held on as long as I could. A real goddamn shame what happened.
I really do like the idea of blue sky, but the idea of another social media app to keep regularly updated just feels like a headache as the summer heat rolls in. I've got plenty to say, but its hard not to feel too exhausted by it all before the days done.
anyway i'm streaming tonight. come hang
Streaming on twitch tonight with a focus on Serum 2 sound design and giving some big updates on the project.
Say 7 pm est?
Come hang out. It's been a while.
Damn it looks like you clawed through a Harkonnen
Bruhs what career are you worried about being 'upended.'
Im ready to 2 serum 2 serious 2day.
Thank you so much! This reallt made my whole morning
As a health focused guy myself, I love to know that my music can help motivate the same. Take care of yourselves physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Things are fucking tough, but they're much harder when we feel weak
Awesome
Just finished up the heaviest thing @nyxxnyxxnyxx.bsky.social and I have ever done (so far).
Watch out for her Salt EP this April.
I helped produce the title track and we are so excited for you to hear it
Do we actually know this has anything to do with DEI? Nothing from the article backs that up.
The hard techno space has been making some heavy sounds i haven't quite heard before.
Also I feel like every music scene now has a band that is angry trans kids yelling over the fastest industrial music you've ever heard and I am ABOUT IT.
Being innovative in a space doesn't necessarily require complete uniqueness from the music before it. I always think about Rob Zombie saying every metal riff was written by Black Sabbath and there's some truth to that. It's just about making good tunes.
I LOVE hyper specificity in music genres. I think it's fascinating, and can be a neat little window into niche cultures. I just don't think they're necessary to talk about music, just a fun spice.
Honestly just saying metal is fine. I'm not looking for hyper specificity (unless you feel like going there). Just curious what spaces are making cool new music
It hasn't totally been my thing but I can't deny that industrial metal is moving the needle in ways that are unique to metal
I actually have noticed this as well! I think the 'liminal ambient' movement, where music is one part of a larger multi sensory experience is a great example of this
If your answer is none, go back and listen to some more music until you have a better contribution.
I think that view is a bit cynical and dismissive of the cool swings happening in different pockets. Trends exist for sure, but that's not all it is
Id argue you aren't exploring hard enough
What genres of music have the most interesting innovation currently? Feeling exhausted by nostalgia based genres.
H E L P
Yaaaaa buddy that's where I'm at. When the world is so oppressive, it's hard to also carry that energy in my music currently.
Interestingly enough i have been the opposite. My dark hard techno tunes have been suffering but my ambient garage and wave music is thriving.
What about the Challengers (2024) OST?
So have people been feeling creatively drained or invigorated by world events at large?
Your favorite art has never had a 'golden era.' You just refuse to learn new things.
