I spent a great day at the Zoological Collection of University of Halle! I saw not only important beetle materials, but also lots of other fun stuff, including a really interesting collection of domesticated animals and some taxidermized animals!

Calling all OrthoFinder users!
Weβve just released GLADE, a tool to infer gene gains, losses, duplications, and ancestral genomes across a phylogeny.
GLADE runs directly on OrthoFinder results.

A simple, but beautiful, #Macraspis (Coleoptera, Scarabaeidae) to lighten the mood! Photographed in Biritiba Mirim, SΓ£o Paulo, Brazil!
All great choice, but my favorite is B1! :)
Our revision and phylogeny of Thonalmus (Coleoptera, Lycidae) is finally out, with the discovery of 7 new species! In your opinion, which of these is prettier? Publication available for download at: www.researchgate.net/publication/... #AmazingBeetles
This #FossilFriday is also special for us, because we have a new paper on Mysteriomorphidae (Coleoptera)! Check it out: www.researchgate.net/publication/...
I am immensely honored to have been the guest speaker at @coleopsoc.bsky.social annual meeting. This is a great recognition from the community and an incredible opportunity to share some of the research I have been doing! #EntSoc23

This weekend, the Museum of Nature held its annual #Openhouse, where the public visited our research and collections facilities! I estimate that more than 2,000 people showed up! It was great to share with the public what we do in the museum, and I hope we inspired people!
I am pleased to announce that, in 2024, I will be joining the Senckenberg Deutsches Entomologisches Institut (SDEI) as the Curator and head of the Coleoptera section, taking care of more than 2 million beetles and 15.000 types! Stay tuned for future opportunities!πͺ²
Photo from earlier this week, but #FossilFriday is the perfect excuse for me to post this here and share the wonders of working in the Canadian Museum of Nature! A mosasaurus skull passing by the halls of the museum!

Our lab manager at the CMN is so thoughtful that he even assigned a bench space AND put my name on it with my favorite colors. Iβve never been pampered like this in a lab!
Awesome! Thanks for the ID! Iβll bookmark this publication for future uses! π€
Everybody plays the fool, sometimes! Phymata sp. (Hemiptera, Reduviidae) preying on a Yellowjacket (Vespula sp., Hymenoptera, Vespidae). So many discoveries in my backyard!
Not my favorite group, but definitely acquiring a new appreciation level after a closer look up at them in the wild!
