This is hands down my favourite #SolarFlare in recent years, an event from September 2024. The flare persisted for several hours, giving us a jaw-dropping view of βcoronal rainβ (seen in the yellow structure) and βsupra-arcade downflowsβ (seen in the cyan structure). A beauty!
As a solar astrophysicist, I spent a lot of time looking at solar flares this year. Out of them all, this X1.9-class #SolarFlare from December 1st was my favourite! The plasma motions are simply mesmerising.
Congrats to you both! π
A new issue of CSH Protocols is out!
The cover image highlights the work by Marshall et al., who describe a detailed protocol for performing multicolor flip-out (MCFO) in Drosophila larvae.

Happy birthday to the one and the only @blockintheback.bsky.social! πHope you have a day as wonderful as you are, Kristen!
Thrilled to share my main postdoc work with @jamesbriscoe.bsky.social
We used genomic barcoding + scRNAseq in chick & human embryos to reveal a lineage architecture that reshapes how we understand neural tube development & cell fate decisions

We are looking for a new technician to join our lab and gain some hands on #zebrafish and molecular biology experience. Interested parties should apply here: jobs.rutgers.edu/postings/259... Happy to answer any and all questions about the lab! #STEMJobs
New cures feel sudden, but the seeds were planted decades ago by basic scientists.
Which seeds will turn into cures? Unpredictable looking forward, a straight line looking back. π§ͺ𧬠π§΅

Neuronal diversity is written in transcriptional codes π§¬. But what is the logic of these codes that define cell types and wiring patterns?
To find out we built a #scRNAseq developmental atlas of the Drosophila nerve cord and linked it to the #connectome πͺ°π§

The #Drosophila community can donate to the European side to save FlyBase @flybase.bsky.social at the following link:
www.philanthropy.cam.ac.uk/give-to-camb...
Love this solidarity. Yes, calling on the beloved zebrafish community to walk (swim?) so we can fly! ππͺ°
π€£ Iβm intrigued and have many follow-up questions that I will be DM-ing you.
Thank you for this!
URGENT: FlyBase has lost practically all its funding overnight; even user fees are tied up in denied grant funding. π€¬π€―
Any lab using @flybase.bsky.social please donate using the link in post below.
This incredible community, on whose backs our #Drosophila labs depend, can't be left out to dry.
@zebrafishrock.bsky.social Has anyone in the zebrafish community looked at the expression of temporal transcription factors (TTFs) in the developing spinal cord? If so, which ones? Asking as an ex-zf, now fly person reading mouse spinal cord TTF papers & currently doing an exciting fish experiment!
We've launched the Armamentarium, a new toolkit for targeted gene delivery to the brain and spinal cord.
This #OpenScience resource was made possible thanks to support from the NIH BRAIN Initiative and teamwork with our collaborators.
