people still think of farms as the default, pastoral, most natural place in the landscape, when in reality a farm is - by design - the most unnatural thing in the world, where plants and animals get everything they need and lots of medicines and so on

I honestly did not expect steroids to be the 80s/90s drug that would make a big comeback in the 2020s.

The thing that makes me most pro-natalist is how bitter and backward looking the politics of the developed world are getting as the population ages. We haven’t gotten stability with a greying electorate, we’ve gotten more volatility as there’s increasing hay to be made of grievance-mongering.
