Do top engineers and scientists own mathematics education?
I don't believe so.

The system just keeps pushing an unhealthy desire for more and more time, energy and resources as the ability to (be perceived to) achieve becomes more and more difficult. Universities need to take responsibility and entrance requirements on themselves.
