Ideology and Australia's "maths crisis". Top engineers and scientists don't own mathematics education.

Do top engineers and scientists own mathematics education?

I don't believe so.

In this new post, I challenge the assumptions behind the media campaign late last year declaring that Australian education is experiencing a "maths crisis".

The system just keeps pushing an unhealthy desire for more and more time, energy and resources as the ability to (be perceived to) achieve becomes more and more difficult. Universities need to take responsibility and entrance requirements on themselves.

Finished up my first session with participants for my PhD project (it was a great session!) and you know what I did?

Tested out the Nintendo 64 and the games I found on the side of the road earlier in the week.

Yes you heard me right.

In a box, on hard rubbish.

It’s been a good day 😁

Hope to see you there!

Thank you Sarah for listening and translating my rambling rants into a work of art πŸ‘

This was set up by the Curriculum, Assessment and Pedagogy (TCAP) Research Group of Deakin University, of which I am deeply grateful for the opportunity and experience.

How cool is this?!

Last week I had an opportunity to meet up with renowned Wurundjeri (Melbourne) based graphic artist Sarah Firth to chat about my current research project, which she then put into visual form as you see below.
