sn: I remember being in 2nd grade and my older sister was learning cursive in 3rd. So I started to “print” cursive letters to practice, or use a form of cursive adjacent handwriting. I got in so much trouble for it …

Not only that — but the SAT and ACT no longer require you to copy and sign the plagiarism/cheating statement in cursive. You can write it in print.
I still mainly write in cursive. When I started teaching, I actually had to reteach myself how to print.
