worth remembering, David Lynch directed โ€œfix your hearts or dieโ€ specifically at transphobes. it wasnโ€™t a generic โ€œno mean people allowedโ€ statement, it was said by his Twin Peaks character in defense of a trans woman he cared for and deeply respected.

THIS. If youโ€™re in central Glasgow tonight please close your windows; if you have to be out please wear the best mask you have available. If you can smell it, youโ€™re at risk.

Women Bathing
by Imtiaz Dharker

All our lives, in every city,
out of every landscape
the waters of the Alhambra
have been murmuring to us.
From fountains, from watercourses,
from the secret pools in courtyards,
voices calling across centuries.

The other women are bathing
in the moonlight.

โ€˜Come,โ€™ they say, โ€˜Come out of the dayโ€™s heat,
out of shaded rooms, letโ€™s escape and slip away,
let the veils fall, one by one.
Slide into the pools that lie like mirrors of the sky,
and let the moon wash over our bodies.โ€™

Bodies lush, generously-hipped.
Bodies like pomegranates,
bursting with promises.

screenshot of text::"The United Nations instituted International Womenโ€™s Day (IWD) in 1975โ€”or so the official story runs. Few remember not only that the origins of March 8 lie in the history of the international workersโ€™ movement, but that it was the socialist movement in the United States that first launched the idea of a day devoted to womenโ€™s rights centered on working-class women. In fact, the Socialist Party USA first established a day of education and action around womenโ€™s rights called โ€œWomanโ€™s Dayโ€ in 1908, and the following year U.S. socialists held demonstrations in several cities to demand womenโ€™s suffrage. In 1910, German socialist Clara Zetkin proposed the transformation of the U.S. Womanโ€™s Day into an international day of actionโ€”International Working Womenโ€™s Dayโ€”which, in 1914, started being celebrated on March 8. Three years later, on March 8, 1917, Russian women workers took to the streets in St. Petersburg, organizing a strike to demand bread and peace. It was the beginning of the Russian Revolution."

Did you know that sometimes a catโ€™s lower eyelid can start rolling in on itself so that the fur is scraping the eyeball and leaves what looks like a big black blister on the eye?

Neither did I! Sheโ€™s having corrective surgery on Thursday.

I swear to God, this cat.

I suppose what I am trying to say is that there are aspects of neurodivergence that are enviable. For instance โ€œI wish I could be that honest and straightforward.โ€ Thatโ€™s not a skill I learned or had to fight for, I donโ€™t know any other way to be. But some people would like to be that way!!

Like, weโ€™re not trying to be that, weโ€™re just trying to get through life and figure out wtfโ€™s going on, but I can see how someone who desperately wants to be different and interesting might want to be us.

Everything about myself that I thought marked me out as unique and different from the masses I can now look at and go โ€œoh thatโ€™s a trait isnโ€™t it.โ€

Weโ€™re weird and non-conformist and donโ€™t care whatโ€™s โ€œcoolโ€ which might look to a teenager as unbelievably cool.

There seems to be this panic that kids are believing themselves to be autistic when theyโ€™re not because TikTok makes it look cool and the obvious kneejerk response is โ€œthatโ€™s insaneโ€ but maybe not HEAR ME OUT

you don't have to read graphic descriptions of SA even if the rapist is running the country right now

you don't have to read or watch graphic depictions of bombing innocents even if it's happening right now

you can be angry about and take action against wrongs without exposing yourself to trauma

Excuse me.

Oh, God. Oh, no. Holy shit. Get away from me.

I was wondering if you knew where the bathrooms are.

Look, I'm ... it's not a crime to scroll through your high school girlfriend's Instagram account. We remained friends after high school! I was at her wedding! It's only natural to see how she's doing.

I'm in a bit of a hurry, and I'm afraid that if I choose the wrong corridor, I'll be late for my train.

I think they're down that way, but I'm actually from out of town. Please stop talking to me.

Real quick, though. I agree that it's natural to be interested in an old friend, but aren't you afraid about the message you might be sending by liking a picture of her at the beach from 2015?

If that did happen, and I'm only going off your word, it was probably an accident. They put the ... scroll bars or whatever ... close to the thumbs up button. People have been complaining about that for years. I've been complaining about that for years.

For years on my old blog I published the names of servicemembers who died in Iraq & Afghanistan. No other outlets were.

These are the first 4 Americans to die in the Iran War.

Sgt. 1st Class Nicole M. Amor, 39

This reminds me of that Frankie Boyle joke about how Americans not only come to your country and kill your people, they also come back twenty years later to make a movie about how killing your people made their soldiers sad.

I am so depressed that I canโ€™t meditate without my brain going into loops of distress so severe I started digging my nails into my stomach.

This is a problem when you are a Buddhist and โ€œworking with your mindโ€ in meditation is supposed to be what helps.
