๐Ÿ’ซNew research out now!๐Ÿ’ซ

Hutson and colleagues demonstrate that men get hired as faculty in archaeology PhD programs more often than women, putting strain on women PhD mentors. And they have some suggestions about what to do about it, too.

๐Ÿชฆ #TombTuesday: An Illyrian helmet from Zakotorac, Peljeลกac ๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ‡ท (good luck with pronunciation ๐Ÿ˜€). Placed in a drystone mound, not a tomb, it may have been a ritual/votive object.

What a shameโ€”a missed opportunity for great television! This is Nepos Street in Split (Diocletianโ€™s Palace), where Julius Nepos, the last Western Roman emperor, was apparently murdered.

I find that the general public often imagines Romans only in 1st-c. BCE/CE military gear. So when a documentary puts someone in a late 4th-c. CE uniform and still calls them โ€œRoman,โ€ itโ€™s confusing. Anywayโ€ฆ if Julius Nepos isnโ€™t in it, Iโ€™m not watching.
