This is excellent news for everyone involved in housing & planning. I know I'm biased because Alex is one of my co-hosts on the Planning After Dark podcast but she really is an excellent choice by the @housingforum.org.uk

This government inherited serious challenges in respect of Section 106 housing delivery and we continue to wrestle with them.
A short π§΅
Following approval of recovered appeal on Brighton Gasworks by @matthewpennycookmp.bsky.social the council has had full costs awarded against them. The letter from PINs is v robust & makes clear that no. of objections is not a planning consideration-it's the substance of the objection that matters
In our Plan for Change we promised to rebuild Britain by fast-tracking planning decisions on major economic infrastructure.
Weβve delivered on that promise - giving the green light to the largest number of such projects in the first year of any parliament.
We promised we would get Britain building.
Thatβs exactly what weβre doing.
So many nuances in government planning & housing stats that you can miss some really good news like this!
Well said Mike. And good to hear you have some good Scottish blood in you!

I enjoyed a day spent talking Green Belt with @catrionariddell.bsky.social and James Corbet Burcher at the launch of Charles Goodeβs new book in the Birmingham & Midland Institute. And we fitted in recording a @50shadesofplanning.bsky.social podcast with @samuelstafford.bsky.social
I've been updating my slide showing what the Gov has achieved since last July through planning reform to boost housing delivery. Given the mess the previous Gov left @matthewpennycookmp.bsky.social has delivered a huge amount on all aspects of the housing ecosystem & it is beginning to pay dividends
Country music on a Monday night in Kingston - and what a gorgeous venue. The fabulous Jordan Davies brought all the big hits and his new stuff to St Johns Church - thanks @banquetrecords.com

Strategic planning is definitely back judging by the party last night hosted by Prior+Partners. Strategic planners emerged from the dark places they've been hiding in for 15 years & celebrated its return together with those that'll be needed to make it work.Time now to get stuck in & make it happen
A great night - thanks for coming!
