Getting ready to launch updated versions of the OSU Permaculture Design Course and PDC-PRO. So many great people have put their ideas into this program. Itβs a great one if you know anyone looking to learn about Permaculture design who wants to design their own site during the course.
#nokings Eugene huge turnout!
Book cover - Beyond the War on Invasive Specoes: A Permaculture Approach to Ecosystem Restoration by Tao Orion
Wow itβs been 10 years since Beyond the War on Invasive Species was published and I got to hold a physical copy in my hands!
Since then Iβve enjoyed so many interesting conversations about ecology, land stewardship, and the meaning of restoration - hereβs to many more years of these!
There is a community of the spirit
Join it and feel the delight
Of walking in the noisy street
And being the noise.

I know, itβs only when the level started going down that it emerged lol.
Yes it is!

Kind of random, but what is up with the creepy Dr. Strangelove-esque image in the Dr. Bronnerβs bottle? π I used to enjoy reading the bottle, but nowβ¦π¬

We heard last week that the Americorps crew that was planning to come to our org. in Oregon was axed by DOGE with one dayβs notice. We invited the former crew members to come anyways, and now theyβre planning to drive across the country to complete their service term independently - DOGE be damned!
Awesome!
The real parasite class is Musk and his ilk literally stealing publicly funded services to enhance their private gain. This process is not new but is amplifying at unprecedented speed now.
We do a lot of work with NRCS programs, and this is a huge issue with the wanton destruction of federal programs.
This is what Iβve been saying for a while. So many of the things that keep our society somewhat functional on a base level are a result of federal programs.
I found this a useful explanation of what is likely going on. Iβve been trying to figure out exactly how Musk benefits from all of this - βDOGEβ is certainly based on self-interest. How we combat this plan will require different legal and movement strategies than weβve tried in the past.
New York Times article Feb 5, 2025 about whether brown shoes and blue pants are appropriate.
So happy that the βnewspaper of recordβ is delivering such hard hitting analysis this morning. I was wondering if my fashion choices were up to snuff right about now. But seriously, WTF NYT?
My lovely and talented cousin-in-law @springtidepress.bsky.social made these just in time.

I was 19 years old in a crowd of 500,000+. Over the years Iβve wondered where all those folks are now, what theyβre doing today. 25 years later and the stakes are much higher now. We need this energy again and Iβve been pondering on leverage points, movement strategy.

A friend just told me that you can sign up for newsletters from the WHO. Since weβre apparently no longer going to get this information from our own govt, seems like a good idea: www.who.int/news-room/ne...
