Yesterday the government quietly released data for the first full year of the excise reform policy effect on excise receipts. Well it came as zero surprise to me that excise duty receipts dropped £254M in 12 months. In other words a catastrophic failure. Sometimes being right isn’t good!
Just three months after being elected they u-turned and adopted the policy and set in it motion even though I personally spoke to Rachel Reeves before the election and warned her what would happen.
Then the Labour Party got in and despite me warning our trade body that this should have been lobbied before the election as a manifesto pledge, once again my warnings were ignored. I was told to trust Labour as they opposed the alcohol reform policy.

If you’re famous and wealthy you can’t go into a bar/club to find strangers to have sex with. For one it would be all over the news secondly you would end up being compromised & thirdly probably blackmailed. What Epstein offered was sanctuary where the elites could do whatever the fuck they liked.
Then we have the layer upon layer of billionaires and millionaires hell bent on wanting to be part of his “gang”. Again none of this is so surprising when you look at how these people operate.
Here my take on recent events, firstly most news from government is used to distract for the stuff they are actually doing, this is common knowledge, but then we have the Epstein. Firstly he was clearly bumped off. That’s pretty obvious.

Let that sink in that and then you will start to understand why pubs are closing, and hospitality is being attacked and tax to death, but the government is earning less which is bad business for everyone. It does have to be like this but sadly governments both red and blue won’t listen to industry.
Since February 2025 to today alcohol revenue has gone down approximately 15%, and continues to fall. People simple can’t afford to enjoy a simple pleasure like wine. Just to be clear on a £10. Bottle at 13% AbV over 60% is tax. The percentage lessened the more expensive the wine.
Today the UK now has the most complex and complicated import procedures for all Alcoholic products in Europe and possibly the world. Moreover it cost millions to operate and the tax burden on wine is now the highest in continental Europe. So had the government cleaned up? No
Then the election came and the biggest mistake the trade has ever made happened, the trade body trusted Labour to stop the policy and didn’t get them to make it part of their official manifesto. Again I warned all the right people but was ignored. Fast forward 12 months a the legislation happened.
Problem was this was of course total bollocks. Now whilst at the time I campaigned hard to have the policy stopped and gain much support from Labour and Lib Dem the treasury ignored the professional advise from industry. Even Tory MP at the time thought it was a shit idea.
