Two of our science managers were busy last week answering questions from almost 400 students in I'm a Scientist chats for British Science Week, from year 4s curious about the 3Rs to year 11s asking how we can replace animals in research.

Chronic fatigue/idiopathic hypersomnia is such a lonely diagnosis, especially in academia. Currently trying to explain to a colleague why I didn’t respond to their time-sensitive email sooner (I was asleep for 21 hours straight) and there just…aren’t the right words.

For anyone interested, I use the REPTIZOO Reptile Hideout Cave with a layer of damp sphagnum moss at the bottom.

My rescued ball python was raised in very dry conditions and has always struggled with his sheds. Recently purchased a “humidity hide” to see if it would help, and look what he left me this morning! Go Fenrir! 🐍 #snakes

Adopted two lil rattys over the weekend. Meet Rufus and Remy! Made the poor decision (for my productivity) to install a pet cam outside their cage and I’ve been watching them check out their new space for *checks watch* 3 hours straight 🐀 enrichment for everybody!

I’m so excited to add it to my shelf! Will be one of my first 2025 reads for sure!

Back from a lovely trip home to Virginia! But I’ve learned my lesson NOT to respond “just some books!” when someone asks what you’d like for Christmas.
