Very sad news.
Very sad news.
And, before him, perennial Oxford oarsman Boris Rankov ('in statu pupillari', my ar*e).
Bit confused by this (non-)story. I was under the (maybe incorrect) impression that the Beeb had already lost the TV rights to the Boat Race a year or 2 ago, and that the recent news is about the final loss of any BBC connection to the event in that they've given up the radio rights to Thames Radio
I too am a Cambridge graduate. I didn't row. I did, however, grow up 10 mins' walk from Chiswick Bridge, so regularly as a child (when Oxford invariably won) went in person to watch the finish. The BBC helicopter hovering at length near our house to film the race was a hallmark of Boat Race day.
I was under the impression that these days most of the UK's gas comes via the Langeled pipeline from Norway. Have I missed something? Has the US started bombing the Norwegian gas-fields or something?
Totally agree. It's extremely concerning that there's some who don't seem to see it that way.
I've actually seen posts elsewhere by people excusing the sinking on the basis that there is no declared war and that therefore it cannot be a war crime, i.e. they are saying that what would be a war crime in a declared war isn't a crime at all if no war has been declared. Unbelievable!
And/or bot farms in Russia.
M. Goodwin: "... the progressives were told how to vote, ...what you saw was a coalition of Islamists and woke progressives that came together..." To him, "progressive" is a derogatory term for Reforms opponents. RefUK clearly opposes progress, so what do they call their supporters: Retrogressives?
Goodness, one year old already! It seems like only yesterday that he was a tiny (yet already incredibly floofy) kitten. Happy 1st birthday, Ozzy!
🤣
Is there an Antifa website or an 'official' Antifa social media presence? I'd describe myself as anti-fascist, but judging by the demos I go on, anti-fascists here in the UK are spread across a dozen organisations/parties, and some are members of none. There's no over-arching UK Antifa organisation.
No such thing as Antifa here in the UK (and I've never been convinced that any organised, specific, identifiable group of that name exists in the US either, other than in febrile MAGA imaginations).

Jenrick is hugely ambitious and hankers to be PM. NF cannot tolerate anyone who challenges his authority. I wouldn't give this political 'marriage' more than a matter of weeks before it ends in an acrimonious divorce.
It’s the word ‘Action’ in Palestine Action that really gets his goat, given that he is Inaction Man.
Bring back Baroness Hale. She was great!
A brilliantly written incisive and scathing indictment of the current President of the Supreme Court's attitude towards human rights, written by the late great Conor Gearty.
I note that this was published not much more than a month after the author's untimely death.
OMG!! Hope he's OK!
Probably best to keep shtum over the alleged brief liaison between BF and my late half-sister - especially since the latter was known not to always be a reliable source of truthful information, especially when it came to claims she made about her own past!
An "ironclad guarantee" from Trump would be about as useful, and as durable, as a chocolate teapot. Trump has never given a guarantee/made a promise in his life that he hasn't reneged upon/broken as soon as it suits him to do so, usually within days or weeks of giving/making it.
Has he been there at all since the count on election night 2024? If not, he probably can probably no longer remember where it is/how to get there.
Interesting Chinese art law case: family of donor to state-run museum of Ming Dynasty hand-scroll spot it in auction catalogue and take legal action. Museum's defence: they de-accessioned and disposed of it after post-acquisiton determination that it's a fake: www.independent.co.uk/asia/east-as...

Better then than David Cameron who, when PM, once left his daughter behind, though admittedly that was at a pub near Chequers, not on Epstein's island.
Well over 45 years ago, my sister went to visit her then boyfriend and his family on Guernsey. She was due to fly direct from UK, but missed her flight and had to fly to Alderney and get a local flight from there. The plane was a Britten Norman (Tr)islander. Bad weather. Tiny leaky plane.
The source of his wealth is perhaps not that mysterious when you find out that he was a key player in the birth of cryptocurrency.
Dark tortie cat, lying in shallow cream-colored bed on a wooden table-top.
Schnork looking very cosy in her table-bed. Originally one of those cat-shelves attached to a window, but Scnork turned her nose up at it - too awkward to jump up there and don't think she thought it looked all that she safe, so now it's a table-bed and she loves it! #Caturday
