With a busy past few weeks I missed that this has now come out with CQ's FirstView.
A fun piece to write! I argue a misunderstanding of Clement's theatrical interests has blinkered our reading of this influential early Christian figure.

Spent a few days exploring this stunning ancient city last year. The Piazza dell'Anfiteatro is wonderful, with fragments of the Roman structure amidst the later buildings.
Our visit coincided with the Festa di Sante Croce, with the winding streets lit by candles and the city filled with hymns.

Late to the party but finally started watching Kaos last night. Prometheus' opening monologue on Zeus seemed pretty spot on to me...

Nice to see this out this week. Something a little different that spun out of my doctoral work, and ended up as a piece tracing a "Platonic" epithet back through the last five centuries of scholarship.

A photo of Rubens’ painting depicting the Bishop Ambrose confronting the Theodosius on the steps of a cathedral.
Ambrose confronting Theodosius, painted by Rubens (c.1615).
One of many highlights from my amble round the Kunsthistorisches Museum this morning.
