yeah I just realized how many of those comedians were on SNL in the early days and why it felt like a comedy fraternity in the 80s. well.

I just realized it probably has something to do with SNL falling off lmao

back in like the 80s and 90s that was actually the case, we had a lot of comedians who came up together and i think that's why we had so many good comedy projects during those decades.

idk what happened, we don't even have general actor friendships like that anymore 🤔

apparently not, though even when they did put it behind a cut, there were still a lot of distracting images.

it was the worst honestly, i just wanted to look at fanart and instead WHOLE WALLS OF TEXT of self-insert fic, complete with photomode stills as accompaniment (usually nsfw). much scrolling, also much filtering on ao3. i read a lot of good fic but i got out pretty fast lol

it's the one thing that's actively kept me out of fandoms in the past lmao "might be neat to hang out here" (if you like this character you're basically hitler, in this essay-) "okay nevermind"

I did suffer through significant amounts of the reader/self insert stuff in bg3 fandom though 😔

for me it's the puriteens. you try to find fanart and instead you're hit with every 17 year old's magnum opus on why hating a character is the hill they'll happily die on and how they plan to take everyone down with them

hope they're planning to avoid all of social media as well lmao

when you add in that twitter is mostly bots... lol

like setting a show in baldur's gate or w/e, that alone is fine. just do that sure. who cares. but attaching it to the game is just asking for trouble

for a fandom shitshow at best. i was just deep in the fandom very recently like... oh no, yikes

it's just an outright bad idea. yeah the game was popular but even if they can somehow manage... decisions lmao there's still the fact that this is the kind of fanbase where they're really attached to specific characters fucking other specific characters. if it doesn't immediately fail, it's begging

the fuck. this actually made me do a double take lmao who thought this was a good idea

honestly despite the amount of fervor the sex scenes inspired, it's a very tasteful and mostly restrained (in a good way) execution and a lot of that feeling is due to the cinematography and quietude after the sex scenes. very thoughtfully done.

okay I won't rush then but I'll aim to start it this weekend at the latest. that gives us both some leeway 😭

honestly I might pull up a summary of the first book first bc I remember very specific events and everything else is a blur

if you want to start it right away, that might motivate me to also start it right away tbh i AM technically out of fic so... i'll try to start it tonight??
