Anywho, here's some song lyrics from 1912:

"So we'll have to Bust the Trusts,
Or they'll grind us in the dust.
Yes, if we want to prosper,
We'll have to Bust the Trusts.
The way things have been going,
The Trusts will starve us out.
For there is nothing doing,
That will bring good times about."

I used to work at paramount when it was a normal evil company so now watching it become mecha evil has been a bit surreal. it's like when the weird backpack kid at my high school got arrested for treason a few years back

Stop the Presses | Tadhg Larabee In Pittsburgh, one newsroom has been on strike for more than two years. Something has to give. Will it be the workers?

also another painful edition in the saga of workers fighting for fair wages, this a great long-read of how the paper's historic strike came to be (although now the last sentance is very depressing to read) thebaffler.com/salvos/stop-...

this is absolutely devasting. during my time living in pittsburgh I always admired the post-gazette's work. and a city experiencing such a massive influx of interest from big tech is in desperate need of good local journalism. what a horrible loss

"I love this idea, go for it:" an ode to the Paste Magazine I knew With the announcement that Paste Media is pivoting away from most its verticals except Music for its flagship magazine, I'm paying tribute to the website that gave me a career

I've been having a lot of feelings about the changes at Paste Magazine the past few days. So, in true Leila fashion, I wrote 2.5k words about it. You can read it here:

feeling a lot of sad feelings about this. I started my journalism career as a tv intern at paste. over the last 4 years I’ve worked with such great editors who let me write articles about tv film and comedy that wouldn’t be published anywhere else. I wouldn’t have a career if not for those bylines.

I too have seen one battle after another and while it is not the next great american epic or on the same level of other pta films like some have been saying, it’s a very good movie with a fascinating message about contemporary politics and what we lose in our pursuit of revolution. also funny!
