Vague and contradictory Trump says Iran war β€˜won’, but not β€˜won enough’ After oil prices surged on Monday the US president sought – and failed – to offer a clear vision for when the largest US intervention in the Middle East in years will end

Win wriggly.

Trump hasn’t come up with a nickname for Putin yet.

How about Lootin’ Putin?

You’re just the same as me. I quite like how cool jazz is - I just can’t listen to it.

Yes it is a war crime - but that doesn't somehow sound bad enough. Millions of deaths by thirst as a result of someone's conscious decision feels like it needs its own name.

Just as a thought experiment - how practical would it be to supply the Arabian peninsula with water from outside?

Is this world one thing counts, in ocean going tankers in large amounts.

Large amounts that can’t be offset by trees.

You’ve got to shoot a rocket or two.

Short term pain from gas prices - in the longer term there will be pain from other sources.

It turns out the biggest balls up in British imperial history is ending up with one United States and one Canada rather than 6 Canadas.

The well being of the republic is probably best served by the president spending more time asleep and the Democrats more time awake.

Fine by me if it has a decent beat. But I'm an atheist, so I'm not bothered by the trivialisation of the redemtive nature of Christ's suffering.

What if the result of the war is that the US decides to pull out of the Middle East altogether.

Will the locals be okay without them?

In general politicians don't have a button they can press to make things better. But I think Trump may have one. He could resign.

So far the war in the Middle East, Iran and Lebanon are paying a big cost in lives and the US is paying a big cost in costs.

Neither side is getting anything good out of it.
