Last night, I shared the drop with my roommate (The Lovers series is right up her alley). I'm blind, and when we got to Novel Ideas, she started describing the art. "People fucking, people fucking, people fucking, but this time it's 2 dudes, ooh the dildo thief is a cat!" Hilarious.
I got the glasses as a gift; I would not have purchased them for myself. Because the gross.
What really sucks about all of this AI shit (especially the descriptions you can get from the Meta glasses, and the whole Waymo concept) is that if these companies were remotely ethical, this tech is *incredibly* helpful for blind people. I have glasses and feel gross every time I use them.

I used to volunteer in community/public radio, so I kept calling it a pledge drive when I pitched the stream to my roommate. They are very much not online, and their response was, "I love every single one of these dorks, why is it the end of my pay period?"

I have been drowning myself in baked goods and mostly avoiding the news/internet, for my own sanity. I made rugelach yesterday (with the roommate's help), and I think I'm going to do something gingerbready today. Because everything sucks and maybe warm spices will make it a little better.
Haven't been around much because I was in Albany for a conference, and then came to visit family. Also, social media is not great for my mental health, but grief has started its annual visit, so I'm sure I'll be spewing those thoughts into the void soon. And baking a lot. Just made banana bread.

I've been blind my whole life, and I still install every OS or app update with trepidation. I can't even fathom what it's like for a senior losing their sight and/or mental awareness.
We are all, at best, temporarily abled.
