Peggy McKee was the absolute best β€οΈ
Peggy McKee!! βAnd what did the Russian peasants do girls?β βSuffer and die!β Iron fist in a velvet glove, GGGβ¦I often think of the partition of Poland cake I made, hard to come up with something dorkier π
π§ Update from ENIGMA-U! To manage costs I have migrated the entire course to Google Classroom. All videos are still on YouTube, but new course sign ups should use this form: forms.gle/AyzNsPLfXNss...
Benefit is there's no enrollment cap and account creation is automatic!
Excited to present these trophies at the AIMS-TBI challenge next month at #MICCAI2025! @spyridonbakas.bsky.social @enigmabrains.bsky.social @womeninmiccai.bsky.social
π Request for help with ENIGMA-U videos! The course is nearly complete but 2 topics aren't covered yet - stress & the brain and making effective figures & tables. If you can help with either please DM me. Lectures should be short (10-20 min) and accessible to entry-level Uni student. Thx!!
I would love your help!! Iβll email you
π¨Multilingual neuroscientists!π¨We're translating all ENIGMA-U captions to 7 languages and could use help validating them. I know this process will take a lot of time but if you can help out even on just a few files please let me know!
I believe it was heterogeneity in neuroimaging markers
~70M ppl/yr experience TBI globally, but most imaging tools donβt handle injured brains well. Letβs do better! If you develop a tool and want to see how it handles major structural deviations, reach out! The @enigmabrains.bsky.social TBI group has data and a strong desire to collaborate.
The audience overlap between neurotrauma and neuroimaging meetings is quite low and this really holds back research. TBI is a fascinating lens through which to examine other factors like aging, sex, psychological disorders, and early life stress.
Fascinating figure about heterogeneity but notice anything missing?
TBI. The heterogeneity of TBI blows the rest of these out of the water. Brain injury is underrepresented at #OHBM2025 as it has been in years past.
Looking forward to this session on normative modeling chaired by Dr. Laura Han @enigmabrains.bsky.social
Excited to talk about ENIGMA-U today at #OHBM2025 poster #585
Your politics or marital status should never determine whether you get care.
But at VA hospitals, thatβs now allowed β thanks to Trumpβs rollback of anti-discrimination rules.
A gross betrayal of the very veterans who served this country.

Med. imaging experts - year 2 of the AIMS-TBI MICCAI challenge is live! Goal is better tools TBI lesion segmentation. We've got ~550 hand-traced (mostly π ) training datasets. Deadline is 8.15.25, conf in Sept aims-tbi25.grand-challenge.org @enigmabrains.bsky.social @spyridonbakas.bsky.social
Fascinating work from @lsalminen.bsky.social and @enigmabrains.bsky.social colleagues at #SOBP2025 showing shifting associations between pollution and brain structure
Love seeing my mentors get recognized!! @ptenigma.bsky.social @enigmabrains.bsky.social #SOBP2025
The AIMS-TBI challenge will return to MICCAI this year! Now open to participants here: aims-tbi25.grand-challenge.org @enigmabrains.bsky.social @ptenigma.bsky.social
Excited to report our symptom harmonization paper is now published in J Neurotrauma! We used semantic textual similarity to calculate item similarity across 4 scales used for post-TBI symptoms. Code and conversion tool available online @enigmabrains.bsky.social www.liebertpub.com/doi/10.1089/...
A serious medical scene shows a healthcare worker in surgical scrubs standing in a hospital corridor. Bold white text overlays the image, reading: βCuring cancer. Preventing pandemics. Whatβs it worth?β
A dark blue graphic with white text centered over a soft-focus medical background. The message reads: βJust $105 per year from the average taxpayer funds the national institute of health. Thatβs all it takes to help save lives improve care, and fight diseaseβ
A clean, square infographic with a dark blue background and light blue accents. The header reads, βWhat does that money actually do? Your $105 helps fund:β followed by six icons and descriptions: 1. Mental Health Research β Depression, PTSD, addiction 2. Cancer & Rare Disease Studies β From early detection to lifesaving treatments 3. Pandemic Preparedness β Vaccines, virus tracking, prediction and prevention 4. Childrenβs Health β Brain development, neonatal and pediatric care 5. Medical Innovation β Imaging, prosthetics, diagnostics 6. Basic Biomedical Science β Foundational research for future cures
Tax Day - round 3 - NIH π©»π§ π§¬
𧬠The average U.S. taxpayer contributes $105/year to NIH, helping fund:
β’ Cancer & rare disease breakthroughs
β’ Pandemic preparedness
β’ Childrenβs health
β’ Medical tech innovation
β’ Mental health science & more
NIH powers the science behind the healthcare we rely on.
Tax Day next up: NSF!
π°οΈ $40 a year. Thatβs what the average U.S. taxpayer pays annually to fund the National Science Foundation.
π‘ Science isnβt luxury - itβs infrastructure.
From disaster prediction to cybersecurity to the tech in your phone, NSF powers the systems that keep society running.
HAPPY TAX DAY!
How much would you spend on a year of tornado warnings? The average US taxpayer spends only $4 a year to help fund the NWS. Itβs a smart investmentβevery $1 invested in NWS yields approx. $73 in social benefits.
πͺοΈβοΈ Support science. Support the NWS.
Stay tuned for more this #TaxDay
Final 3 days! Giving βdayβ ends April 11th. Thank you to everyone who has donated!
It's Giving Day at U U Health and we have link to donate to ENIGMA-U! Our amazing donors have kept this alive for 2 years now β€οΈ, but $$ for student fees ($259/month total) is low again so if you are able to give, even a small amount, we would greatly appreciate it
