Used to be a lot of talk about the WEF on social media - global elite conspiracies and all that - Watching Trump brag about all the great things he has done for the uber rich in Davos must have been hard.

Really hard.

Trump actually threatened three different NATO members today, but apparently US news things the key takeaway is that he says he won’t use force …

He's going to buy them - 100%. The real point of that speech is that no that the rules based order is a myth, but that power is what matters and that effectively, he will do what is necessary to protect Canada's interests - its FU to romantic ideas about ideals in foreign policy. Buckle up!

Can Newfoundland Finally Stand up to Quebec? This week, host Sam unpacks how a 1969 deal turned Newfoundland’s mighty river into Quebec’s cash cow, earning Hydro-QuΓ©bec billions while leaving Newfoundland with scraps. Now, decades later, the province says it’s finally taking back control.

It’s election time in Newfoundland and Labrador β€” and beef with Quebec is back on the menu.

Come meet the St. John's city council candidates running for the at-large seats "under the whale" tomorrow. They'll be serving up their visions for the city.

There is an election about to start in this province - if you feel like you are being left behind, ask the candidates why they have no serious policy proposals to deal with this challenge.

Releasing today - the 2025 regional living wages. Our takeaway this year - too many people are working long hours for incomes that don't cover a conservative estimate of essential household expenses.

Carney to announce Canada will meet 2% NATO spending target by March | CBC News Prime Minister Mark Carney is set to announce that his government plans to meet the NATO benchmark target of two per cent of the country’s gross domestic product by the end of the current fiscal year ...

The NATO 2% goal has always been a shell game, but it is absolutely the lowest, of low hanging fruit, to fold the Coast Guard into the national defence budget (as other countries do) to substantially *increase defence spending. Maybe we could even fund effective SAR now?

Total provincial funding for eduction has gone up 61% since 2014 - its largely inflation. Funding to CNA has gone down. Funding to Memorial has gone down. Apparently inflation doesn't touch post secondary education.

It’s easy. This government has other priorities. It’s a choice.
