I just realized that Reuben is the only one not in the family photo at the end of the series, because he left before it was taken. Huh. Probably just a logistics thing but I like how it's tragically thematic in that he loses out on the big ohana because he's hanging around with space cop
I'm working on my fic and I keep having to revise early scenes because I have failed to make Gantu enough of a selfish jerkwad at the start. He's not going to be a polite tour guide for Reuben on Turo, instead he's going to ditch him after yelling at a hotel clerk for not upgrading his room for free
