I would like to believe someone like Rowling had such power, cos then I might feel like it was a bit easier to defeat. Instead it is hundreds of professionals choosing to make harmful decisions, not for personal gain, not even for ideological conviction, but because they don't view us as equals.
The hagiography of churchill is such bullshit. If he was such a hero why did he lose the general election immediately after the war? The public of 1945 rejected him more than you're allowed to in this country nearly a century later! I hope they replace him with a pig, at least they look cute.
To be very clear, polanski has made some big promises and i will be watching closely for bullshit when the time comes! My defence of him here isnt petty tribalism or contrarianism. If he burns us we will drop him! I dont want a new party to swear loyalty to, i want things to change for the better.
Labour are pressing hard on this as a percieved weakness in the green leaders image but having to indulge bullshit in a poorly paid job, then the mainstream media declare war on you actually does the opposite imo, starmer doesnt know or care about the precariat whilst polanski was one of us!
A savage, magnificent, virtuosic and unlikely to be surpassed evisceration of "Mummy's Favourite".

I say I want a vow renewal but what I really want is to wear a pretty dress and make my wife tell me she loves me in front of all our friends again

The katsu curry one is so well composed, its giving Hoppers Nighthawks
exterior shot of a katsu restaurant except Iβm the one cooking, this shit looks like CineStill to me
me whiffing the conceptually best photo of the day as a guy who has that shit ON feeds one billion pigeons who surround him. itβs kind of washed out looking though
I ever so slightly missed focus but itβs a girl in an extremely stylish pink and blue lolita style fit crossing the street in front of a bank in a way that felt very Manhattan to me for a second
cyclist in motion (autofocus fucking me up AGAIN) but with a very cool blurred background including a green crossing signal
I love it here

i'm gay and trans and stuff but it doesn't matter. what matters is that i am a fat wild animal
I was also on the fence about being called Geneva but that is to my mind the name of a character in a novel, maybe i will keep it for a pen name. If i ever detransition im not going back to my deadname, id switch to Melmoth after the pseudonym oscar wilde used in exile in france
In retrospect a stupid decision i used to get called Simon all the fuckin time. Not even close to my deadname its just wrong! Anyway if you're picking a new name don't pick one with both a masculine and feminine form, people will choose the wrong one!!!
When i first tried coming out i picked Ffion, to keep with mum giving me a welsh name. Had another aborted attempt, then decided i was picking a name for the wrong reasons after uni. I wanted a name that sounded adult with lefty connotations, thus Simone after Nina and deBeauvoir. Nearly chose Heidi

The Poet Laureate of the UK is famous for his translation of St Gawain and the Green Knight, and Kym once got up on stage, looked him straight in the eye, and then performed this.
Unsurprisingly enough, every time they've encountered each other since, he's remembered them.
"I dread even saying this... but I think that we've ended up in the wrong place on trans, and we've done that by treading very self-consciously and not actually following our hearts, which is that trans people are on the margins, they are vulnerable. "If the Labour Party doesn't look after trans people, what are we about? "They're most likely to get beaten up. They're the ones who are most likely to have prejudice against them. We should not be indulging in anything that marginalises them even more."
Emily Thornberryβs words on Radio 4 in response to the Green win in Gorton and Denton.
This is why wins like this are so important, whatever you may think of the Greens (much like the immigration rebellion brewing).

there are like 50 people in the country who want the UK to get involved in the Iran War, one of them is Kemi Badenoch, one of them is Nigel Farage, and the other 48 are newspaper columnists
Often a person believes himself to be so wiseβ¨and believes to gain highest fame thereby,β¨when the juice of the grapes has affected him negatively. β¨The next one believes that he is so richβ¨that even the emperor might not be an equal to him. β¨The third appears like an extremely hungry horse,β¨so no one can push enough of fresh or rotten food into the ever open mouth. β¨The fourth one screams cries over his heavy sins,β¨and his heart is passionately in flames out of deep repentanceβ¨for strange reasons that no one can comprehend. The fifth one desires to do unchaste actions,β¨to which he is dedicated day and night,β¨once he has become addicted to the power of wine. The sixth has a miserable practice: He condemns the soul through [false] oaths so that she will be entirely exhausted when facing God.
The seventh is ready to fight, he growls like a dog held by a chain and who barks all the time; its round head is ready for a fight. The eighth becomes so happy out of drunkenness that he is ready to sell his honor, property, wife, and children; the evilness of drunkenness shows in him. The ninth helplessly becomes crazy, everything that he knows, sees, or hears, he presents openly to everyone. The tenth fights against sleep. The eleventh sings wild songs and screams totally uninhibited both in the evening and in the morning. The twelfth becomes so drunk from heavy drinking that he feels the alcohol already at the top portion of his throat and voluntarily pays a tribute to the innkeeper.

British female track and field athletes are being asked to cover the cost of their own Β£185 sex tests if they want to compete internationally. my first piece (cowritten with Catriona Innes) in a print magazine comes out today: we interviewed 13 people, mostly trans women, about how the Supreme Court ruling has affected them for Cosmo UK

Relevantly, you can read a piece I wrote in November about trans people's trust in the judiciary. One that, as a UK lawyer, it was very taboo for me to write at all.
