In Estonia, there has been a similar argument made that internet voting favours certain parties. However, it has been done for long enough for these parties to fall out of favour as others started winning. The solution for the critics has been simple: now these other parties are rigging elections. π€·ββοΈ
I can share that I found out that a smoke alarm in the basement ceiling doubles as a water leak alarm (given a sufficient amount of water in the basement).
Have you noticed that digital products and services are getting worse? So have we!

Just this week had to write an opinion piece to explain that chat control type backdoors in the name of CSAM reduction have negligible impact in the age of Grok making CSAM of anything for anybody.

2026 will bring more blockchain/quantum/AI scams, hacks, overvaluations, bankruptcies; VC psyops, trolls and bots, paid articles and endorsements.
Meanwhile there wont be no...

- useful/practical quantum computers
- meaningful blockchain use beyond tokenization

Cybersecurity protip from Digital Tech Summit in Copenhagen.
We are looking for a cybersecurity professor to strengthen Estonia's existing expertise. We are looking for an ambitious researcher (with a steady presence at big four security conferences) with demonstrated leadership skills who can build a larger team. iacr.org/jobs/item/4075
Travelling to Copenhagen this week to constructively rain on peoples' AI parades at the Digital Tech Summit.
Constructively, I promise. Can't have economic weakness in Europe this time around, or you know, ever.

At least in Estonia, the story of "digital signatures and Smart-ID could be broken by a quantum computer" still raises eyebrows.

If I get cryptographic agility in systems *and* get rid of MD5, I would totally have no cryptographically relevant quantum computer ever. May it do computational chemistry and cold fusion for all I care.
Might be it won't do that either.
Getting rid of MD5 is still a trip to Awesome Town.
Looks like cryptographers can still safely fall asleep again....

Discord user IDs getting leaked is the entirely predictable consequence of requiring platforms to do age verification. That data never goes away, it spreads. In this case, into appeals in a breached customer support database. And predictably, it can get worse. www.404media.co/the-discord-...
