Thereβs a joy, & a sadness listening to two beautiful souls who have passed back into the energy cycle that creates more life. What a gift they have left in their wake.
Sometimes, I happen upon a podcast that changes the course of my thinking, doing and being entirely. Last time was a couple of years ago when I heard Dan Palmer talking to Carol Sandford.

I've written about how I'm intending to approach the hardpan of clay and soil compaction on my allotment. Read it via my latest Substack...
Road closed with cones & signs. Cars are still parked illegally up to the closure
View from opposite direction, showing access to the park from the school severed by the road
Great to see a new zebra crossing being installed outside Albert Primary. Hopefully a first step towards a #SchoolStreet to allow easy access directly to Belle Vue park
There is really no need for through-traffic on this road, as the closure demonstrates
I did find some signs of life;
Worms in the woodchip path that had broken down
Robins, so many
A caterpillar
A grub of some sort
A centipede
All is not lost!
With some tender care, soil life will return!
Iβve also removed the plastic sheeting the previous tenant had put all over the main growing area.
I thought a strategy for beginning to deal with the compaction might be to let the weeds grow. At least Iβll have a living root system then.
Second day fully working on developing my new allotment space, Robin was around, enjoying the worms I brought up with my disturbance.
Lots of work removing all the plastic today. So much plastic!
Plastic free paths now!
"Everybody talks about the weather, but..." yadda, yadda.
Let's get serious.
#Permaculture Magazine is not on BSky, yet. Someone in the UK, give 'em a nudge.
