Well his sinner form seems to be more shaped around how he died and from the looks of it he’s not necessarily shark-like he just seems to like em a lot which is valid

It’s one fucked up commentary on the criminal justice system that directly profits off of penalizing a group of people as subhuman on moral grounds and will take advantage of any form of disorder or tragedy to keep that steady supply of scapegoat and labor and justify inhumane treatment

So I do think because of that Husk’s addiction did have something to do with his rise and fall as an overlord seeing as Husk’s solo song was about him on a bender affected by the disease he’s very much still struggling with

I will say tho my sister works at an alcohol and gambling addiction recovery center/detox facility and she loved how season 2 handled Husk’s addiction because it showed the highs and lows of the cyclic nature of a gambling addiction and alcohol dependence

Yeah this is all projection at the end of the day - I just really like how Angel and Husk are both mirrors into how society and the US justice system treats addiction as a moral failing and ultimately screws over anyone it can as long as it can frame it as your fault so they don’t have to help you

Husk is gonna be more in line with what you’re thinking - he did some fucked up shit before his fall and is fully aware of this and his journey is to realize it doesn’t have to be that way forever he can also get better

If we read the series as an entire commentary on the harms of punitive justice and the benefits of restorative, I think Angel is a person who started out needing help and the broken system just destroyed him like a lot of small time felon addicts who can’t escape the prison cycle while-

It’s less like Angel being treated like a victim means he has less autonomy and more like it’s a stand in for folks who genuinely get fucked over by a system that actively wants them dead because of their condition or felons who get worse when fed to the criminal justice system beast without help

See I like that aspect too, I just think they’re tackling that with Husk’s character, who’s been hinted to have done awful things in the grips of his addiction during his time as an overlord - Angel’s the metaphor for folks who get screwed over because the system blames them for their issues
