I have no issue working a different time zone, provided that my 9-5 hours stay within that timezone.
Part of the frustration of my last FT job was I was working 6am-8pm multiple times a week.
If I am expected to do that, I much rather be a IC and bill people for that privilege.
Given that this gig may be on East Coast time, it might be less of an issue.

It's been an interesting week... New Apple products reveal a lot about the techy people.
I'm always shocked at the number of people who use their company laptops for personal use, especially in tech.
It was probably the final straw.
On the other hand I never felt like they cared too much about the PC version anyways. I found that they were always buggy and were slow to update.
Once you do standard amortization schedule on it and all of the IT overhead, is the difference between a 500ish laptop and 1000ish laptop really that big?
I won't lie, while I like the whole use old tech until it falls apart. It's hard to beat the MBA for travel. I often have to double check my backpack to make sure I packed it since I don't even notice the weight or device in the bag.
I'd wait for the first round of reviews. A refurb'ed or NOS M3 or M4 MBA might be a better way to go for you.
I was hopping the high end config would have been spec'ed with 12gb of ram.
But with the $100 edu discount and the eventual BF sales in the fall - it's a perfect burner laptop.
The amount of armchair engineers bitching about the MacBook Neo is making my morning.
Except for a missing 12gb ram option, it's exactly what I expected. All of the A18 limitations were well known.
It's targeting the Chromebook market - not power users y'all.
Hardware wise, there is nothing else that competes with the base model MacBook Air since they did the redesign with the M2.
While I'd like a slightly better screen - I really hope they don't go OLED. I refuse to buy a laptop with an OLED display - since burn-in and degradation are real issues.
Given that MacOS and iOS are 90% the same codebase.
It's also why I am pissed that Apple has never really gone full in to a hybrid device with the iPad Pro, especially once they had Apple Silicon.
