Yes, it is (thank you). I try not to rant too much about being a bi man writing gay male fiction in a publishing world dominated by female writers and straight publishers but good GRIEF it gets tiring.

The amount of cishet editors expecting queer authors to write queer experience SPECIFICALLY FOR THE CISHET GAZE but they'll still leverage the author's queerness for their own marketing makes me sick. I'm sick of this.

Just had a press accept a story of mine, had me spend hours emailing them and editing it, only to then ask me to withdraw it because my writing about queer experience wasn't what they (cishets) wanted to read. I am so beyond exhausted by this industry. (At least there was a tiny kill fee.)

Dear publishers, please do not accept a story, sign a contract, pay for it, then ask for a complete rewrite of said story (when you are paying pocket change). If you don't want a story, just don't accept it.
Now I'm going to have to find some way of saying all of this without being the bad guy.
