Just started using Linux as my main environment at home (I’ve used it for work for a long while). Though there are issues I’m trying to work through, I’m shocked how well everything works.

A food delivery robot makes a sidewalk impassable.
Fortunately all sidewalks are always shoveled to their full width, making it possible for strollers, pedestrians, and those with mobility aids to…yeah.
NPR's coverage has done this. They don't necessarily do it all the time, but they do it regularly.
A State Farm office at 1428 W Irving Park Road with a dangerously unshoveled sidewalk in front.
So, if anyone knows the risk of unshoveled sidewalks, it has to be State Farm Insurance, right?

Reading and understanding other people’s code is one of the most challenging things about engineering, in many ways way more difficult than solving it yourself. It’s well worth it to review junior devs’ work, because you can train them. I question whether the tradeoff here is valuable.
There are annoying people everywhere, amongst all fan bases. I find this fanbase to be enthusiastic, and it makes me happy. I’ll be frank, I don’t see the point of sharing this kind of vague negativity.
I’ve had this same thought. Don’t let the haters get you down.
Manhunter: San Francisco
I started watching it in 2001, shortly before 9/11 and our subsequent response - Patriot Act, Homeland Security, etc. It felt pretty prescient then, too. The specifics change, but we’ve been on this path for awhile.
Every time I’ve gotten close to winning this one, the program crashes.
Because Windows 11, maybe? I'm expecting to see this sort of thing more often.
The nice thing about there being a "worst thing ever published" is that at least there's a floor.
I remember this, but I’ve always conflated it with something in Star Wars.
The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.
The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.
People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.
And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.
We should talk more about how Inner Lake Shore Drive is dangerous for anyone not ensconced in a motor vehicle. I hope this woman heals fully after bring struck by an SUV driver who ran a red light at Addison #northDLSD

picture of dick cheney and it has a morrowind text window saying "with this character's death, the thread of prophecy is restored. The weave of fate is stronger than ever, you've no need to persist in the doomed world they have created."

Hard Drive was saddened to her about the passing of Molag Bal. We may not have always agreed with his methods, but he worked to enslave all of humanity and harvest their souls with the grace and poise the position demanded. Our thoughts go out to all his Daedric brethren in this difficult time.
No I don’t, and fair enough. I do think the mere *existence* of those features invites speculation, though, and at the end of the day adding self-driving while admonishing the driver to be attentive feels like talking out of both sides of your mouth.
Surely adding self-driving features to cars encourages inattention, even if we all pretend that the driver is supposed to be paying attention.

The fact that SF cameras have already caught thousands of people going more than 15 miles over the speed limit is a perfect illustration of why these cameras were needed in the first place. www.sfchronicle.com/sf/article/s...
Are we all supposed to pretend that we don’t understand how filibusters work?
I know that it was technically a legitimate primary. But if real options aren’t running, one choice is no choice.
I mean, having a real primary in the first place would have been much better.
A pity he didn't participate in a primary debate - we may have had evidence of the extent of his condition much earlier.
The whole point is that it wasn't a real primary. There's pressure on people not to run, there are real consequences for perceived disloyalty, so the only candidates you end up with are the ones who aren't taken seriously to begin with. That's the whole point.
Yes, it's easy to win when there's no opposition.
I'm not really even sure what your point is at this point. All I'm saying is that there should have been a real primary. I don't think that the argument that "people voted for her for VP, so there was no need for a primary" is very persuasive.
