Loved this book!
Any chance this is recorded?
Aww! A teeny newt! π
Ooh, love that about the origin of a second. Thanks for sharing
This is great but misses one obvious point. A minute (minn-uhtt) is minute (my-newt).
Iβve just accepted that your characters will go through all nine levels of hell at this point - and Iβll be with them every damn step of the way as moral support.
Ah, Ruth. My deepest condolences. She was such a delightful best girl.
I was fortunate enough to see the real thing from the inside and it remains one of the most extraordinary experiences of my life.
Introduce yourself with 5 animals youβve seen in the wild:
(The ones I got most excited about)
Dugite (venomous snake)
Giraffe
Orangutan
Smooth Newt
Wobbegong shark
It did indeed have curtains over the screen!
The first time I saw Strictly Ballroom was in a little rural cinema with wood-backed cushions on the theatre seats. I laughed so hard, I doubled over then literally fell off my seat as the cushion tipped, slid and brought me down with it. (The seat snapped closed behind me as an encore.)
Itβs right up there with: βIβll get back to you.β
May I recommend Peteβs Castle near Craughwell? Not abandoned but cosy is a more viable alternative.
Iβm jealous! Canβt wait to get my copy!
Same! Huge difference in teenage independence thanks to our new Local Links.
I adore this series. First book going cheap. Warning: you will buy the rest.
Love Overboard but love him playing the sidekick in Big Trouble in Little China even more!
In Australia, I had a large version of this dude. His hat was a sieve, his face a bowl and he held the spoon!
Picking it up again - got halfway through last night. Had no idea he had such a strong Australian connection or that he literally got in this deep (sorry) with submersible builds.
Dorothy Dunnettβs Game of Kings. Friends advised persistence and so I persevered reluctantly. Then came that plot twist and the whole book changed for me.
My fave Xmas film. Love it even more than a Muppetβs Christmas Carol.
Flowering artichokes are otherworldly.
Oh, do dough, do!
Literally a whole continent missing from this checklist. Was it compiled by flat-earthers?
Immediate flashbacks! And I would devour every last word of this truly outrageous piece of scholarship!
This quote always shook me. Reminds me of The Princess Bride: who says life is fair, where is that written?
But Terry adds the rider - unfairness doesnβt excuse inaction.
Good to know others also bang on about how deceptive the Mercator projection is.
Where there are no sheep, there are wild camels. (This is true.)
Reminds me of Ptraci from Pyramids by Terry Pratchett.
