If youโre outside of Minnesota and youโre wondering how to help, this guide is excellent.
And seriously. Take down your Ring doorbell TODAY.
I just spoke with the White House after another horrific shooting by federal agents this morning. Minnesota has had it. This is sickening.
The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now.

Brain Power Strategy Card handout. It's separated into three zones: the frustration zone, the growth zone, and the independent growth zone. Below each zone is a space where students can organize their work into each section, and a space for them to write out a plan for tackling their work.
An infographic showing two balance-scale diagrams comparing brain states. The top section is titled โBrain Power in Zone 1 & Zone 2: Growth Zoneโ and shows a balanced scale labeled โBalanced,โ with arrows indicating working memory, information coming in, and brain power/energy (cognitive load) in equilibrium. The bottom section is titled โCognitive Overload Zone 3: Brain is Frozenโ and shows a tilted, imbalanced scale labeled โImbalanced,โ with notes indicating too much information coming in, working memory overloaded, and the brain overloaded or frozen due to cognitive overload. Letโs pause and reflect ๐ญย The end of the year can feel like a sprintโฆ but what if we slowed down + honored what worked? What made you feel proud as a math teacher this year? โจย Youโve grown โ your students have too. That matters. ๐งก

"My tip for boosting student engagement is to NEVER respond 'yes' or 'no' to any student answer. ALWAYS ask the rest of the students, 'What do you think of _____'s answer?' It works every time." โEducator T.J. Jemison

The Internal Revenue Service has reached an agreement with immigration authorities to share tax information about some immigrants without legal status, marking a major change in how tax records can be used.
The American Bar Association has grave concerns about todayโs decision to immediately end most of the government-funded legal services program for unaccompanied children. This program provides legal representation to more than 26,000 migrant children, who are in or have been released from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Refugee Resettlement custody. Providing services to these children helps them navigate complex immigration court proceedings and allows them to understand their legal options, while also protecting them from being trafficked, abused, or exploited in the United States.
The ABA is concerned by the U.S. government's cutoff of legal services for unaccompanied children. Read the full statement here: www.americanbar.org/news/abanews...

In #MathsToday we were multiplying and dividing by powers of 10 - using plastic wallets to write the numbers on so we could move the digits up and down on the place value grid.
+1 on depending how theyโre used! Also the age of students and what other study / organization skills you might want to build. In grades 3 and 4, I loved a notebook. Parents knew there was one place to see all the learning happening and kids could go back to review previous concepts quite easily.
hahahaha I am glad someone saw it because it made me happy to type!
