Thank you for bringing back a core memory of overhearing men saying this as a child and being deeply perplexed.
Yesterday at work, I thought I had a rock in my boot. I went into the bathroom to take my boot off and remove the rock.
It was, in fact, a small ball of mozzarella.
<3 Thanks @thismagazine.bsky.social for the share! Still very proud of this publication with yall.
When @conyerclayton.bsky.social stopped drinking, they went in search of a new, sober community for connection and support. But it's not easy to find the right fitβand they're still looking.

Gonna say something liberals really wonβt like and itβs that youβre going to have to find it in your heart to feel compassion for and attempt to help ppl in crisis whose politics you may not agree with or else youβre gonna become the very thing you claim to hate
The background has an graphic of a community of houses covered by walls and skeletons with a purple overlay. At the top of is a white bar with "2025" in black text inside of it. Man oh man.
A hand holding up Grief is for People by Sloane Crosley. The edge of a deck and woods and blue sky are visible in the background.
I often avoid nonfiction "grief books" because for me they can be too prescriptive and didacticβattempt to be too broad and sweeping. But this book avoids these things, and it really moved me. Highly recommend.

May 6 at Perfect Books in Ottawa
May 8 at Pulp Books in Montreal
I'd love to see you there! π
Hey!
This is perfect. I love this. This is what I mean, and what we were talking about in another comment...it's often not the big deal people who are dealing in the biggest egos, ha!
YES! 90% of the time that I have had this experience it has been very mid-tier folks. A few big deal folks of course, but honestly they are usually very nice, ha! It is really the mid-folks that are the most dismissive, maybe they think that is how to get to the top? (it's not)
Honestly rather ridiculous. Why are people like this??
I honestly am loving being "the help", as it is INCREDIBLY revealing!
It makes me, as a writer, really be intentional that, if/when I am ever in the spotlight, in however small a space, to be sure I treat every person involved in organizing well.
People are there to help you: the people selling books, the people at the door, the bartender, the person doing lights.
