I'm sorry you feel like that. I'm also 74 but feel the opposite! I remember being worried as a small boy at the time of Cuba and the Bay of Pigs (though didn't understand the detail obvs). I was more worried then. Am optimistic about the future and hoping this government can achieve what it intends.

Yet with astonishing cruelty, ministers refuse to listen to their reasonable demands, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

If the Palestine Action hunger strikers die - which they could do at any moment, as they are now very close to the end - it will be the government that killed them. Today’s column explains why. Please share, and write urgently to your MP.

Have you wondered why the reporting on small boast crossings has all but stopped mentioning recent arrivals and instead has gone back to annual figures only?

It's because there haven't been any for almost a week!

The 28-day people average shows the lowest figures for mid-Sept since 2020.

Also they need a gardening columnist who knows something about gardens! In the past they've had great ones like Vita Sackville West, Dan Pearson, Monty Don. This one is a novelist not a gardener.

They called her a mad cat woman and tried to destroy her reputation. Then they dragged her through the courts and tried to destroy her life. But @carolecadwalla.bsky.social is standing tall and continues telling the inconvenient truth. A must see.

These photos by John De Carteret on Jersey show yellow-legged Asian hornet embryo nests. To be certain of the species the insect building them needs to be seen. Several other species will build similar nests.
Please report any nests with insect photo using the Asian Hornet Watch app.
