It’s definitely one of the perks of my job to get to go into some truly beautiful spaces.

Yesterday I turned 63. There was cake. There’s still cake. Eat all the cake you desire & happy birthday.

I was stupidly working in jandals (flip flops/ thongs) making bouquets. I had recently recovered from COVID so I wasn’t myself. Dropped my very dirty snips & watched in slow motion as they impaled my foot. Luckily they missed tendon & I only required a tetanus shot & a course of antibiotics.

After watching Deadwood I’m now immune.

It stresses me out when my mum, coming up 92 & still in her own place, worries about the cost of living. Fortunately, my brother takes care of all her bill payments now. So it’s less in her face. She’s worked hard her whole life. She should not have to worry about turning on the heating!

The SweethyTable at Markovina has 2 floral arrangements in white & blush pink. One on the floor in front of the table & a smaller 1 sitting on the table in front of the Bride & Groom. Flowers include standard & spray Roses in white & blush pinks, white spray Stock (Matthiola), Baby’s Breath ( Gypsophilla) & Eucalyptus Baby Blue foliage.

The Head table & Mantelpiece at Tui Hills have floral runners of mixed reds & pinks. The couple chose the addition of the neon “ Til Death” sign attached to the front of the mantelpiece. Flowers include Black Magic, Something Special & Quicksand Roses, red Gladioli, burgundy Sweet William, Strong Love Tulips, peach Chrysanthemums, pale pink Alstroemerias, Callicarpa berries & Ruscus Milano foliage.

The groom at the Markovina wedding built an arch for their ceremony. The flowers on the front of the arch cover the cross beam. The arrangement is made in the same style as the ones in the reception area. Flowers include white & blush pinks standard & spray Roses, white spray Stock ( Matthiola), Baby’s Breath (Gypsophilla) & Eucalyptus Baby Blue.

Tui Hills has this great mirror. The frame is 3 overlapping circles with the mirror in the centre. That’s a rare shot of me after setting up the reception space. Tui Hills have long trestle tables that are joined together to form rows. This wedding had 2 rows of 3 & 1 row of 2 tables with black linen runners down the centres. My floral runners sit on the linen & run the full length of each row. In the background is the Head Table & Mantelpiece. Both have floral runner to match the ones on the guest tables. The couple chose the “ Til Death” neon sign for the front of the mantelpiece. Beneath the mirror are the bride’s bouquet, buttonholes for the groom & his attendants & 3 single King Proteas for the bride’s attendants. Flowers include pink King Proteas, Black Magic, Something Special & Quicksand Roses, burgundy Sweet Williams, Callicarpa berries, Strong Love Tulips, pale pink Alstroemerias, peach Chrysanthemums, red Gladioli, Ruscus Milano & Eucalyptus Baby Blue foliage.

It was a busy weekend! 2 weddings, 1 at Markovina & 1 at Tui Hills, & they were complete opposites in terms of style. From pretty blush & white to wild & trailing red & pink. The Tui Hills wedding, on May the fourth, had a Star Wars theme.

Kings College Auckland chapel. The most ornate woodwork & stunning stained glass windows. I did flowers for a wedding there today. Here are the arrangement either side of the altar.

This is the groom’s buttonhole. It has a single white Rose, a freesias, green Lisianthus buds & foliage.

The mother of the bride’s wrist corsage of miniature white Roses with green & white accents. All attached to a pearl bracelet.

The bride’s bouquet is a mix of white, blue & green including Roses, Freesias, Lisianthus, Delphinium, Hydrangeas, Lepidium & Agonis.

Today’s wedding. I got the opportunity to see inside the amazing chapel at Kings College in Auckland. I actually got goosebumps & a bit emotional inside the chapel. I could feel this amazing energy. Does that sound crazy?

It did just start raining at ours so I’m now keeping an ear out for the storms.

Loudest & longest yet the person beside me snored on totally oblivious.
