I only have the head of one of my Barbies from childhood - and the leather coat my grandmother made for them! β€οΈ
Remembering Keely Smith, born on today's date in 1928. In the late 1940s, she joined the big band headed by Louis Prima; the two married in 1953, performing extensively together throughout the rest of the decade. www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_vx...
Remembering Taina Elg, born on today's date in 1930. I know her best as Angèle Ducros in one of my favorite musicals, Les Girls (1957). She died last year at the age of 95.
Just a few of the ladies in my collection. Happy #NationalBarbieDay!! β€οΈ

This is gorgeous! I love them both! I despise colorized movies, but I love seeing colorized classic movie star stills.
Right? Her story was a jaw-dropper.
Remembering singer and actress Barbara McNair, #botd in 1934. She toured with Nat King Cole, played Sidney Poitier's wife in They Call Me Mister Tibbs, and recorded numerous albums. Here she is in one of her appearances on the Ed Sullivan Show: tinyurl.com/3dzm72wh

I love learning stuff like this! And Stephen Talbot later became an award-winning broadcast journalist and documentary filmmaker for PBS!
Remembering Lyle Talbot, who died on today's date in 1996. I loved him in so many films, including Mary Stevens, M.D., Registered Nurse, Three on a Match, and She Had to Say Yes. After I wrote to him, he sent me the snapshot on the right, a few years before his death at age 94.
Remembering Jennifer Jones, born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on today's date in 1919. I loved her best in Carrie, Duel in the Sun, Cluny Brown, Madame Bovary, and Ruby Gentry. She was married to actor Robert Walker from 1939 to 1945 and producer David O. Selznick from 1949 to 1965.
