Louisa Adjoa Parker is the Dorset Nature Calling writer. She 'set out ... to listen to the land, ... pressing my ear to the earth.'
'This patch of land' is poetry and prose: folklore, history, heritage, geology, and nature; rich, tightly woven and fascinating: tinyurl.com/yre6p3ay

We're calling on UK Government to ensure that fines on water companies are used to clean up the pollution they cause & restore our waterways💧

Labour tells developers: Pay for pollution and you can build faster
A nature and conservation fund will be set up to stop wildlife concerns from blocking new homes
A Nature Restoration Fund to help developers meet their legal responsibilities for nature *could* be positive if it's done well, but it mustn't become a free pass for unsustainable building.
A 🧵of some risks and opportunities.

Green groups back farmers calling on Government to ‘fix’ agriculture sector
The Wildlife Trusts and WWF are among numerous bodies who have signed a letter to Environment Secretary Steve Reed raising their concerns.
The Government should pledge more funding for ELM & ensure fair supply chains - key reforms to boost nature, & give stability for farming communities🧑🌾
We stand with @the-wildlifetrusts.bsky.social, @wwf-uk.bsky.social & more to back a thriving farming future👇

My daughter devoured the Ruby Redfort series at 11. She also loves Holly Jackson's Good GIrl's Guide to Murder series and absolutely anything by Katherine Rundell with Rooftoppers a particular favourite. My son loved the Malorie Blackman Noughts and Crosses series.

12% budget cuts pose existential threat to National Landscapes. National Landscapes teams can no longer deliver exemplary partnership work with the promise of ‘jam tomorrow’, the climate and nature crisis is now and our teams must be equipped to deal with it. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2024...
