While not agreeing, Iβm heartened that two of your preferred alternatives are prominent Labour politicians. I have a lot of time for Ed Davey on social issues. Personally, I would never entrust the security and defence of the nation to either Jeremy Corbyn or Stephen Flynn
And does anyone, even Green voters, think Ellie Chowns is an alternative PM?
Agreed. Itβs perfectly valid to argue he should do more, or less, or some things differently but anyone replying to this should name which of the other 649 MPs (and it would have to be one of them) they think would currently do a better job as PM
Same here. Of course things are bound to go wrong occasionally for individuals but the improving trend here is clear
Only a snapshot in my town, but people are also feeling a marked improvement in NHS services. Waiting lists are genuinely coming down and there are no longer problems getting GP appointments. Maybe not everywhere but dramatic improvement in this part of North Bucks
So is this a U turn you wanted and youβre criticising or a U turn you wanted and youβre happy about or a U turn you donβt approve of and youβre happy with or a U turn you donβt approve of and youβre unhappy with? Iβm confused
Whilst so many scandals within the other parties are ignored
Round one of a potentially long battle if the Govt decides to fight to keep proscription (they will). Not at all unusual for a case in the High Court to be reconsidered by the Court of Appeal and possibly then the Supreme Court. Could go either way on appeal.
Just love it π
Despite his friendship with Epstein being public knowledge, three months before his appointment as ambassador, 3334 Oxford dons and graduates voted for Mandelson in his failed bid to be Chancellor of Oxford University. Should they all resign? No? I donβt think so either - neither should Starmer
Never mind his political opponents, the good people of Manchester will be thankful to retain him
Just to be a bit pedantic, neither Starmer nor the Labour Party can block Burnham standing for election in the Gorton & Denton by-election. Only as standing as a Labour Party candidate. He needs only 10 nominating electors and Β£500. Thatβs democracy
Genuine questions. Would this apply to MPs who resign the party whip and sit as independents rather than defecting to another party? Would it apply to MPs who have had the whip withdrawn from them by their party? In either case they no longer represent the party they stood for
The new Messiah βοΈ
I fear Burnham would not be any more popular after the print and broadcast media have torn into him as they have Starmer. My opinion obviously, but that will inform my vote as a Labour member if/ when it comes to a leadership vote
And, however popular Burnham might be now, he would be subjected to the most almighty pile on by the MSM, broadcasters etc, digging all possible dirt. Fellow Labour supporters should beware of clutching at messianic straws
To be fair he didnβt βcompletely dodgeβ your question. He said βWe inherited a real mess on water, and weβre taking the most effective and far-reaching measures to deal with itβ. Thatβs a typical answer to an opposition question. The fairness of the subsequent attack is, of course, debatable
I sense that Badenoch herself may be minded the move more to the centre, for example less on culture wars and more on mainstream conservative economics
Trump to be declared non-executive King of Greenland (with no change to Greenland or Denmark sovereignty), complete with polar bear coronation robe and whale bone crown. That should fix it
Anyone as old as me, or a student of politics, will remember how well a unilateral nuclear disarmament pledge in the 1982 Labour manifesto went. Still known as βthe longest suicide note in historyβ.
Quite! A time for cool heads and clever diplomacy

On the other hand I rather like investment, jobs and economic growth
I blame the government. Starmer must go
