My new Purity Litmus Test for any Democrat in politics is to at least talk like uhh this cato institute gentleman

there’ll be class solidarity finger-wagging over this, but she needs to go to jail too. she’s an adult, and she’s living it up on stolen tax dollars

The ROM sequence into the tunnels is one of my favourite things they’ve ever done.

Great stage presence. Reminds me of Mojo Nixon a bit.

You should try to do the right thing instead of coming up with a weak but righteous justification for doing the wrong thing for a cheap thrill. You're not 17 anymore.

IIRC the Alias 2-parter that kicks off the series bears more than a few similarities to MI3’s plot structure.

Irresponsible deployment of spaghetti code isn't the fault of an AI, but the person who tells the AI to do it.

Like any tool, it needs to be handled responsibly. Governments need to move on regulation, quickly. But used right, it can improve people's lives. It really is that good now.

"Here's all our gathered intelligence on the adversary, and a full detailing of our military assets. Come up with the best war plan you can for these objectives:" is probably about the extent of their due diligence.

Your new Canadian obsession just dropped.

For a split second, you can see the back of my head in this trailer!

If there aren't, there should be. I'm sure lots of people have ideas for little web tools to make life in their communities better. Pair 'em with someone with Claude Code and someone who knows how to setup AWS, they could get a lot done on a weekend afternoon.

I'm no theologian, but Trump's whole deal has been "What Would Jesus Don't" for decades at this point.

Vibe Coding Update: If you have a clear idea of what you want, a decent understanding of how web services work, but no coding ability, you can do amazing things in very little time.

Was so excited to show my girlfriend. Then she mentioned it already existed. Was like the Mr. Skin bit in Knocked Up.

reminder that one of the many practical problems with people betting on everything is it creates financial incentives for involved betters to find ways to change odds to turn out in their favor

Gave Claude Code a shot this week and had this exact feeling. It's like an on-call web developer who will quickly create anything you ask it for. I found it useful. Left its final response on Read: "Anything else?"

I felt guilty about it. Which I shouldn't. But it can cross the uncanny valley.

More or less. If you deal with companies that depend on DCs in that region, your odds of being affected go up, but I'd wager that's a pretty small demographic in Canada.

Safe to say that if you're working on stuff in the cloud on N. American DCs with no footprint in the Middle East, the impact should be neglible?

My prognostication for the data centre industry is anything but rosy, but these would not be the impacts of Iran targeting a single DC in the Middle East.

Dozens of them around the world all at once... maybe? Even then there'd be local backups.

"Andy Garcia has the upper hand and is going to enjoy the hell out of demonstrating it" isn't the most common movie trope but it never fails to satisfy.

I’ve been rewatching the Henson Dinosaurs of late. They got away with some absolutely lacerating social commentary thanks to those Baby Sinclair merch sales.

Agree with your conclusion, but are you judging by who’s bombing who or by whose bombs are successfully hitting their targets?

Iran’s Shaheds largely being intercepted doesn’t mean they aren’t launching loads of them.

The storytelling is shaggier than the Vegas-set films, but Soderberg was never more uninhibited as a filmmaker than he is here and it is THRILLING to watch.

Feeling a sudden urge to throw on the Ocean’s Twelve soundtrack:

(David Holmes’ work on all three films is a triumph, but this is absolute peak stuff)
