I know it's only March, but I believe that "sloppelganger" is 2026 Word of the Year

i’d like for some people to grapple with the fact that β€œthe most important election of our lifetime,” if you actually mean it, implies that the governance period following it is also the most important governance period of our lifetime, and adjust their demands/expectations/behaviors accordingly

Aaaah! Hi to your boss's boss.

Checking that authors are real people is a deeply stupid and necessary task. thank you for doing it

This puts me at 10 people released. I filed my 1st habeas petition 29 days ago. I am an incredibly small-time, nobody lawyer who knew nothing about immigration law the day I submitted that case. I barely know any more today. I had never sued the federal government and now I've beaten them 10 times.

Can you think of a cozy fantasy cottage core book that features

- found family
- small towns
- cats, mermaids AND unicorns

and IS NOT The Spellshop?

We're hunting for a book for a reader. Any suggestions?

Agreed. And I think the composition of the photo itself reads as a commentary on his presence.

It's like a parallel commentary to bookend the line about how Blume's bio should be written by a woman. Wowser.

The photo at the top is really striking: why is this man sitting on a child's bunk bed in his socks surrounded by books? What is he doing there?

He's too big for the space. That place isn't meant for him, next to middle grade stories and smaller scale furniture. He does not belong there.

If Timothee Chalamet wants to make being a reverse-snob part of his deal, whatever. Be a child, you know?

But at a time when arts funding and support are so imperiled, it would be nice not to lead with your contempt for wide swaths of the arts during your campaign to have your own art recognized.

there's so much bad in the world but there's also people who lift up and carry an elderly bat around every day so he can pretend he's flying again, and that's the part of the world I think is worth fighting for
