Donald Trump raises stakes in Iran by weighing deployment of US ground forces
Democrats and some Republicans fear deepening involvement in war with no clear exit strategy
Who on earth is advising this guy? Walter Mitty? Think Iraq x3 - at least. US was fighting in Iraq for 8yrs! History repeats but this time, after the Afghanistan tragedy, could it be as satirical farce? Trump as historyβs buffoon - dangerous but still a buffoon?

The GP Employment Paradox | The King's Fund
Only a small minority of GP trainees in England feel confident about finding a job after training despite political commitments to expand the GP workforce.
This is a shocking finding by the Kings Fund. GPs are the front door of the NHS and the paint is not only peeling off but being replaced by the facile cello-tape of AI stuff like a βdoc in your pocketβ. Expect pressure on A&Es to grow as patients lose trust

Iran latest: Oil price passes $100 for first time since 2022 as Starmer warns of economic impact
As G7 finance ministers prepare for an emergency meeting, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer says the longer the war goes on, the more likely an economic impact becomes.
How long before 2008 oil price reached? Possibly why USA nor Israel have not hit Iranβs main oil export terminal at Kharg island. Just think of signal that would send to those oil trader markets. But Israel has bit between its teeth so who knows?

Most weight loss drug users are middle aged females and pay for them. So likely main use is for cosmetic purposes. Have worked in health promotion and motivating people to change lifestyle who do not actually feel ill is very hard. Drugs designed to alleviate that feeling make it even more difficult

A poor diet and lack of exercise impacts health in many ways other than just obesity so important patients also improve their diet and take more exercise when placed on weight loss drugs. But do they?

Mojtaba Khamenei to succeed his father as Iran's supreme leader as oil prices surge - follow live
Khamenei is named as successor to his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in the first wave of US and Israeli strikes.
With the Trump having killed Mojtabaβs wife, child, father and mother might expect a defiant and vehement opponent to any negotiation to end the war. Likely why IRGC declaring such strong support. Expect current apologetic Iranian President to soon be down a trap-door

Opportunities, perils and pitfalls: how UK parties have responded to war in Iran
Starmerβs βpurely defensiveβ stance has won support among voters, but what challenges lie ahead for each party when it comes to their baseβs view of war?
βPurely defensiveβ stance is a load of bollocks of course. US B1 bombers are not conducting a βdefensive warβ except in MAGA and Israeli military logic- but Starmer saying it often enough seems to make it so with some voters- a Trump tactic

A hollow man, head stuffed with straw. Completely out of his depth. But unfortunately also our prime minister. No reassurance that any who follow will be any better. Goodness we have had a poor line of them this last 20 years or so- stupid or shallow. Your comparison with the Spanish PM is spot on.

Probably, but instead of recruiting a fresh graduate nurse in UK they recruit a highly experienced nurse from, say, Nigeria and she ends up pressured to do work above that G4 pay grade- and is afraid to refuse due to nature of her overseas contract.

Trust CEO: National leaders are holding back mental health progress
A leading trust CEO and former national director has warned the mental health sector feels "abandoned", with no long-term plan and its "share of spend falling like a stone".
βThe mental health sector feels βabandonedβ, and with no long term plan and its share of spending βfalling like a stoneβ
In 2025 Kings Fund reported that 1 in 4 mental health beds are now βoutsourcedβ so possibly Gov sees mental health as easy target for privatisation

The NHS discriminates against migrant staff and places most on the lowest point of pay scale they can. Big reason for NHS recruiting staff from abroad in first place - to save money.
