𝐕𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝟏𝟑 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓!

Municipal elections in Finland impact many aspects of our daily lives — from the environment & climate to healthcare, schools, and integration. Voting is a chance to help shape our communities.

𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐌𝐲 𝐕𝐨𝐭𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢 𝐌𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬!

For the first time, I’ve received my letter to vote in Finland’s municipal elections, and I’m 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 excited to exercise this civil right. 🗳️

This means ensuring that marginalized communities are not left behind in the green transition and that their voices are heard in decision-making.

Today is a good day to reflect on how we can create a fairer, more sustainable future for all.🌻

These groups contribute the least to emissions but are hit hardest by environmental challenges.

As we push for climate action, it’s essential that we integrate social justice into our solutions.

On 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞, we must remember the intersection of climate change & social justice.

Climate change disproportionately impacts the most vulnerable communities, from low-income areas to indigenous populations.

Each of these spaces reinforced something important: climate action is about people—how we connect, share ideas, and build momentum together.

📌 Facilitating interfaith dialogues at "This Is My Conviction – Young Adult Dialogue Night"—leading discussions on 𝐹𝑎𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑖𝑛 𝐴𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 – 𝑇𝑎𝑐𝑘𝑙𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝐶𝑙𝑖𝑚𝑎𝑡𝑒 𝐶ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑔𝑒 with young adults from diverse backgrounds. It was powerful to see how deeply both nature and community are valued across different traditions.

📌 Kickstarting discussions on sustainable travel with Sustainability Community Finland —I opened the event with a presentation on the triple planetary crisis and what “sustainable” really means. Since the event I haven’t stopped reflecting on how we can rethink the way we travel and explore.

With Trump’s withdrawal from the Paris Agreement, the road ahead in tackling climate change feels steeper. But hope is not lost. Every day, people worldwide—organizers, scientists, activists—are pushing for solutions. There’s much work ahead, but we must continue to drive change.

Finland's climate warming faster than global average Temperatures in Finland were last year on average 3.4 degrees warmer than in the pre-industrial era, and 2024 was the fourth warmest year on record.

It’s a beautiful, sunny, and unusually warm day in Helsinki, but Finland’s warming climate deserves more urgency.
