I'm so grateful that I watch and read everything with yhe ability to see further than the base text but its lowkey exhausting to witness others consume the same shit as me and NOT GET IT

Its just the most black and white view point, hero or villain with no ability to see the grey in between or understand the emotional struggles

and then my male friends were ALL Stark fans only because "they're the good guys", the media literacy is shocking

This is mostly men too btw, I remember how back in peak GOT time when s7/8 were airing, it was like this split and all my female friends who were fans of the show were Daeny fans or even Cersei, they understood the complexities of the characters --

Which in turn feels like they missed the entire point of it, & the best example of this is the debates in the Death Note fandom. The number of people who watched it & didn't come away with the same emotional impact from L's death, who didn't notice how lost Light actually was after is crazy to me

It is wild to me that there are people out there that watch shows/movies & just don't pay attention to the character's emotional depths, they don't read between the lines, they don't relate to the characters. They JUST come away with the plot & the base level of what happened.

I fear I might be, every book I pick up just isnt holding my attention 😅😭
