All of the “Reform can’t win” analysis ultimately relies on voters recognising that Reform are a far-right party, and splitting that vote.
The risk is Reform picking up protest votes from folks who feel that the traditional parties have abandoned them.
We’ll know either way in May, when the Welsh elections happen.
Reform could form the next Welsh Government. If not, they will almost certainly become the official opposition.
