Trump administration orders restart of oil drilling along California coast amid Iran war President Trump is asserting executive authority to demand California restart controversial offshore oil drilling along its coastline amid soaring gas prices during the war with Iran. Gov. Gavin Newso...

Amazing strategy: start a war with Iran, watch oil prices explode, then announce new offshore drilling that won’t produce a drop for months. Brilliant. Nothing says β€œwe’re in control” like announcing oil that doesn’t exist yet.

The whole "AI" industry is just based on the hope that they can deskill people fast enough that they'll have to rent back cognitive support systems. Forever.

It's like Uber. Just that they don't try to break existing transportation infrastructures but your brain.

Want to hack your body with peptides? If only the science agreed Performance-enhancing peptides are increasingly popular among fitness enthusiasts and biohackers, despite limited human testing and potential health risks.

RFK Jr is trying to get 14 peptides licensed without data on safety or efficacy. His favorite is BPC-157.
"Only three small human studies of BPC-157 exist, the largest of which is a telephone survey of 16 people who received an injection of the drug for knee pain"

The U.S. Built a Blueprint to Avoid Civilian War Casualties. Trump Officials Scrapped It. The Pentagon dismantled its civilian protection mission as Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth made β€œlethality” a top priority and the Trump administration reorganized national security around two principl...

NEW: A recently developed Defense Department program was meant to reduce civilian harm during military operations.

But months before the Iran war, the mission was dissolved as Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth made β€œlethality” a top priority.

Screenshot of article which reads: I particularly call on people with the (limited) protections of tenure. We have seen a world where the people with the most power do nothing while people in the most precarious positions put their literal bodies on the line. A corollary in our past is that Harry Keyishianβ€”the lead plaintiff in the SCOTUS case that bears his name and eventually enshrined faculty’s right to academic freedomβ€”was a contingent lecturer at the University at Buffalo who had not yet completed his dissertation when he challenged the state of New York’s loyalty oath. His co-plaintiffs included other lecturers, untenured professors and a staff member. It may seem obvious, but I’ll be explicit: Faculty with tenure should summon the same level of courage as an all-but-dissertation lecturer or untenured assistant professor to fight against attacks on academic freedom.

The people who push back on silence-as-protection moves are usually the people with the least job security, which remains wild to me. Maybe we should use tenure to do something good?

I was in a 2 hour briefing today on the Iran War. All the briefings are closed, because Trump can't defend this war in public.

I obviously can't disclose classified info, but you deserve to know how incoherent and incomplete these war plans are.

For Mahmoud Khalll, this past year has been marked by profound hardship-and by profound courage.
A year ago, Mahmoud was walking home through our city after sharing an iftar with his wife Noor when he was detained by federal agents, flown to Louisiana, and then held in an ICE facility for months. In that time, he was forced to miss the birth of his first child. All of this for exercising his First Amendment rights in protesting the ongoing genocide in Palestine.
And yet, even in the face of that cruelty, there has also been beauty. New Yorkers raising their voices in solidarity. A city refusing to look away. Mahmoud won his freedom, and a father was finally reunited with his child.
Last night, as we marked the one year anniversary of his detention, Rama and I were honored to welcome Mahmoud, Noor, and their son Deen to Gracie Mansion to break our fast together.
Mahmoud is a New Yorker, and he belongs in New York City.

Obama negotiated an effective nuclear deal with Iran that Trump abrogated during his first term. Every piece of U.S. news coverage should make that clear.
