Nobody remembers that Obama supported the exact opposite of this in the summer of 2008 and then took the lead in polling? People vote for people with principles!

A pretty stark example of how “kitchen table issues” as a basis for opposition to an illegal war can lead you astray politically.

This somehow never gets brought up when people talk about “authoritarianism” in the Global South. A lot of “principled leftists” on here ignore it and reduce everything to “bad governments.”

PS: If anyone tries to blame Israel's current massacres, mass displacement, and mass destruction in Lebanon on Hizb'allah, remind them that Hiz'ballah honored the ceasefire for 15 months while Israel violated it *over 15,000 times*

Their response will tell you everything you need to know.

I know people are very sensitive about the use of the word “genocide” but the attempts to medically eliminate trans children is very clearly meets the standard because they are trying to eliminate a population and also they know some of those kids are going to kill themselves

being earnest, what libs miss is we have "held our nose" and "voted for the lesser evil" our whole lives
and look where it got us

we're done running full speed down that dead end- run a good candidate, or piss off

"there are only two choices"
wrong, there is always a third
so get it together

Fun fact: at CENTCOM, the Iran-focused Jim Mattis developed a plan to open the Hormuz strait. It revolved around rapidly speeding a multinational force to the strait to *prevent* mine laying; and then minesweeping what Iran already laid.

Problem is: then the ships are in range of Iranian missiles.

I’m skeptical of any reporting Iran will mine the strait. Mines are indiscriminate weapons. Iran loads most of its export oil at Khark Island in the Gulf, so its tankers would have to go through mined waters. Plus the threat of closure sufficed. But if it mines the strait, that’s to draw the Navy in

2 yr ago, I tried to put a RO on my cousin who was on meth and broke into my house multiple time, vandalized, and attempted setting the house on fire with me and my partner (and dog!) inside. I had 6 separate incidents caught in 4k w/ mult cameras. Cops wouldn't even review it. Had to get a lawyer.

Lawsuit says DOGE used ChatGPT to tag Jewish-themed humanities grants as ‘DEI’ before canceling them - Jewish Telegraphic Agency Among the project caught in the dragnet was one about violence against women during the Holocaust.

He used an OpenAI chatbot to screen thousands of NEH grants for "DEI." Any mention of gender, race, LGBTQ people or "underrepresented cultures" triggered a flag.

An Alaskan Native language preservation project? DEI. A documentary on a massacre of Black men? DEI. Jewish women enslaved by Nazis? DEI.

Semantic ablation: Why AI writing is boring and dangerous opinion: The subtractive bias we're ignoring

Yes, AI prose fails soon after three or four sentences.

And here's an explanation from a computer scientist about why: LLMs smooth out all the concrete texture—the surprising metaphors, the narrative examples—in favor of "semantic ablation," or a bland reversion to the linguistic mean.
